so Christmas is over and now we look forward to the new year?, how are you going to celebrate it?.
Do you stay up all night ( why ) or just put your feet up and at the stroke of midnight haul yourself of to bed?.

6:30 - 9:30: Work at theatre
9:30 - 10:30: Take a drive around town observing "amateur night" festivities
10:30 - 11:59: Watch TV and eat snacks at home with wife
12:00: Wake up wife (who is dozing) and wish her a "Happy New Year"
12:01: Clean up snacks, go to bed.

Pretty darn exciting. I miss the old partying days sometimes, but this way is more relaxing and satisfying, for us at least.

12:00am - Use telephoto lens to photograph the elusive Coot as he emerges from his den of sin.

12:01am - If Coot saw your shadow in the bushes, there will be three more weeks of Christmas music at the mall next year.

I'm cooking a vegetarian Indian dinner (from the Moosewood cookbook) for my friend, who is supplying the wine. THen we will watch part 2 of RENT (we watched part 1 XMAS Eve), and will probably watch ep. 5 of DA ALI G SHOW and ep. 12 s. 4 of 24.

Then I'm sure we'll argue/debate politics and watch EITHER a serious International movie (THe Conformist, The Damned, or maybe part 1 of 1900) OR something in bad taste (John Waters' Pink Flamingos, Female Trouble, etc).

Then close to midnight, break out a bottle of champaigne which I've had in the refrigerator for at least 10 years) and toast in the New Year!

I'll be ushering in the New Year at the theatre. (Pun unintentional).
I'm the closing manager New Years Eve, and since We Are Marshall drops at 12:35 or later I'll be in the office and I will happen to look up and see the clock reading 12:08, then I somberly realize I have pissed away another year of my life, again, then I will go downstairs to check if the usher is actually picking up trash in the theatres or if he/she is watching movies again... [Mad]

Just another night to me.

I'll be workin' Sunday 1pm to midnight. Will attempt to drive home just after midnight by staying a couple of blocks east of the Strip, crossing it somewhere between St. Louis and Alta, hoping to avoid the couple of hundred thousand amateur drunks that will be all over the Strip at that time. Should be fun! Will be off on Monday probably watching football all day.

I am planning a quiet evening at home listening to some new classical CDs I had received from my BMG Music Service membership. One of them is a an album featuring music by Joaquin Rodrigo including CONCERTO MADRIGAL, FANTASIA ANDALUZ, FANTASIA PARA UN GENTILHOMBRE and a DVD of a concert featuring CONCERTO DE ARANJUEZ with Pepe& Angel Romero on guitars. New Years day will be spent at my brother's home with the entire family including my mother who will be allowed to leave her nursing home for a few hours to enjoy the day with her loved ones.

Here at the Temple Theatre the doors open at 6:30 the organ plays at 7:00 then we show the new "King Kong" in DTS at 7:30. Following the film the audience adjourns to the adjacent ballroom for horsd'oueuvres and live entertainment. At Midnight all will toast the New Year with Champagne. There will be dancing until 1:00 when the party ends.

We did this party last year and the movie was "Phantom of the Opera" in DTS. The movie makes the party much less alcohol based as there is someting to do from dinner to 11:30 or so.

Well, the desicion was made for me. The "play party" was cancelled due to lack of response. And I was hoping to ring in the new year with a bit of excitement. [Cool]

I'm running a movie show - two cartoons and a nice comedy, VICTOR/VICTORIA (1982, dir. Blake Edwards). The show has been sold out days ago, it ends before midnight so people can get out in time to watch the fireworks.

When the Temple was a Butterfield house, we had a short reel. It was like the drive in intermission clock but it was a countdown to the New Year. It was necessary to back time the presentation so you could have the "Happy New Year!" on the screen as the big blue clock up front said 12:00.

I remember one year when another operator let the feature end and then started the clock but did not do the backtime trick, had a near riot as people were upset that there was a 15 minute difference from the clock. "The Moral Is!" If you are doing a time critical event, be certain that it is accurate.

I had a fun New Year's Eve. I got so wasted. I hung out with my buddies, and we all got drunk. Two of my buddies actually threw up from drinking so much. Not me though, I can handle my liquor. One of my friends took a pain killer designed for cancer patients, and he couldn't feel anything. We were all taking turns hitting him, and he couldn't feel a thing. We ended up trashing the whole house, because we were so wasted. I ended up passing out on the couch sometime after 4 AM. I just woke up like 2 hours ago. Man, my head fuckin' hurts! I got a fuckin' hangover. Damn, I have to go to work today. FUCK! Yeah, good times!

We had a couple friends over, that turned into a couple more... then a couple more... eh, you get the point. We had people thru-out the night just popping in to say hi and then going off to someone elses house. Well, we ended the night with 5 of us. There were 2 women and 3 men and the woman (me included) were smashed off our butts while the men sat there sober... haha good times. Luckily I've still never had a hangover.

I then went to bed around 1am. Wow, I'm the most exciting 28 year old you'll ever meet on New Years Ever i tell ya!

My brother-in-law and his two boys came down for some wings and pizza. They left around 12:30. Wife and kids went to bed. I stayed up and watched some of President Ford's old speeches on C-SPAN.

Clocked out 15 minutes early and went up to the sixth floor of the airport employee parking structure to watch the fireworks on the Strip. Got out of there around 12:20 and drove home prepared to run a gauntlet. Turned out to be slightly better than my normal drive. I guess it was too early for most of the drunks to be on the road. Was home by 1:00 and down for the count by 1:15. No booze for me - I'm not that great a scooter rider as it is.

Off today, then back in for a slow Tuesday. Wednesday will be hell. Due to my class being on Mondays this semester (AV220 9:00-11:50, in Henderson of course), school doesn't start back up until the 22nd.

Spent the day at Gold Hill and had good luck finding gold, there is always at least some gold brought home from this place on each trip!! Stayed there till the coyotes were a howlin away and drove back via the Pony Express Trail.... all 130 miles in the dark. Had some interesting animals run out in front of the SUV.... including a Badger. We were the only ones on the trail the whole way back.... Arrived home in time to watch the ball drop in New York City.

Mark, I often see and/or hear Coyotes howling at about 4am 20ft from my house. I have many "wild" animals wondering around my place. Deer, Skunks, Coyotes, Bobcats, Hawks, Rabbits, Squirrels, Rats, as well as other vermin from Rockwall, Sacramento, Seal Beach, West Fargo, etc. [Razz]

Haven't seen any Badgers... BUTT, with ALL due respect to the original poster, Joe:

Yea Phil! Looked just like those critters... white masked face. Badgers also eat people so I always carry a sidearm when I go out there. Typically there are more rattle snakes than badgers out there and the number of Jackrabbits is astounding!!

After getting home at around 11pm from closing booth, just chilled out and called a few cousins & had a shot glass of Amaretto Di Sarono to bring in the New Year. After that, went to bed. Hmmmmmmmmmm, nice & relaxing which is far better than getting drunk and regretting it the next day. [Smile]

I ran the booth until the last show let out at 9:30pm. Then off to a friends for drinks and dinner. At the stroke of midnight, we jumped in the pool in their neighborhood. This is the 12th year of this, sometimes idiotic, tradition and we had a double digit turnout for the first time. We use different pools most years but we almost always have to jump a fence to make it happen. It wasn't cold enough here to need "Liquid Courage", in fact this was probably the best year I have been. The worst is when you have to break the ice to jump in. Some say that it is a "cleansing" to start the new year but there are others that say there is no good reason at all. Either way, I realize every year about 11:59 and 45 seconds that we just aren't very bright.

Monte, congrats to you and the rest of the Bronco Nation, that was easily the best game I have ever watched. The Hook and Ladder and a modified Statue of Liberty plays in the same game, and they both worked, unbelievable. (BTW, Wikipedia already makes mention of Boise State on the Statue of Liberty Play web page )

Went with friends to our local pub and partied till 3am, one block from all the maddest of Times Square. I live in the Times Square Theatre District zone. It's hard to get anywhere that night in my neighborhood.

I had my usual NYE party. Singed my right eyelashes trying to light a cigarette for a friend of mine.

I made up for all the 28 year olds who DIDN'T drink by being a 29 year old that drank heavily and provided enough bar for every other 20 something to drink whatever they want.

Ask Adam, he had um... half a drink?
