I'm excited. It's this girl that I've been crushing on for a while now. I just up and asked her and she said yes! Wewt!!!

The Greco factor on her is a solid 7, which is great in my book. I can only describe her looks like this: Bridget Moynahan(sp) lips, I can't even describe how amazing her smile is, sultry brown eyes, and curves in all the right places [Big Grin]

"Crushing on"? That's so... so... Myspace.

OK, now try not to drool on her and for gawds sake, don't let it slip that you rated her just a "7" on Film-Tech.

Congrats Greco... dont get too excited and be yourself. Dont be negative or self depreciating (could be mistaken for lack of confidence). I finally found myself a nice Irish cutie and having a great time so far.

Richard, dude, look, you sound like someone who's about to shoot off in his BVDs. You gotta relax about the whole woman thing. Let me tell you something about women: they can smell desperation the way a lion can smell fear. You're gonna scare her away before things even get going.

Take a few deep breaths and chill, fer chrissakes.

Well, it went very well IMO...

I kept the conversation light, focusing on her...and it went very well. I was relaxed too and that helped. We're going to a club in Ybor City in a week or 2...(she LOVES dancing to hip-hop)

But it's the pelvic thrust,

I have an odd question to any guy that feels like answering. As you get older does your taste is women change a lot? Meaning, were you looking for a different type of girl when you were say 20 compared to when you were 25? Because in the last year I've gotten more interest from guys then I have my entire life... and honestly, I don't know why because I don't think I've changed that much. Eh... sorry, odd question on Greco's topic! =)

I've liked the taste of all my women.

Back when I was a teen I was EXTREMELY discriminating when it came to girls when it came to looks. Not sure why, just the way I was I guess. Now I seem to be less discriminating, though I still find plenty of girls/women unattractive. I guess I let my guard and inhibitions down. I'm still more discriminating than some of my friends are, though. There have been a few women that they have found gorgeous that I would simply pass on. I'm not attracted to Jennifer Aniston or the like, but I've never heard ANYONE say anything bad about her looks (I could write a book about 'em). I guess it just all comes down to personal taste. Also, any woman with fake parts turns me off. Not sure how I would have reacted as a teen, since I wouldn't have known the difference.

Rachel, that's pretty cool. You've got guys pawing for you. [Cool]

I currently have the opposite I suppose. Guys liked me a few years ago and not so much these days.

Hey, Richard... A girl who can dance to hip hop is a definite keeper. Keeping other guys off of her will be a heavy task. Best of luck doing that. [Smile]

That is a really easy question to answer: most guys just get more and more desperate and less - even less - picky when they get older, and they hit on everything they think they even remotely have a chance to score. So no, it has nothing to do with you. But it's not something to be flattered by either.

Theoretically, yes, as men grow older, they should mature at least a little and be able to appreciate women more and then they should also start to see and understand the wide spectrum of qualities of women - but a lot of people are idiots, and that means they have no personal development or maturing process going on, so that doesn't happen. They just get more and more desperate as they see themselves ageing and their "chances" fading. Sad, but this is the reality. Hope that helps.

Hey, I'm not insulted.. it is what it is. =) I asked one of the guys currently hitting on me this question (also a good friend), his answer was that I was the type of girl a guy could happily spend the rest of his life with. Then went into the, "you're smart, witty, attractive, and you like the same things as me". Eh, also kind of an insult because he was calling me a geeky tomboy! =) Haha.

Very nice. However, you must remember that these are only words anyone who doesn't have a serious speech impediment can utter. What counts is not what people say, but how they act (I mean in the sense of what they do, not in the sense of impersonating, faking, although that goes on a lot, too, and it never ceases to amaze me how easily most girls are fooled by even the worst actors) and behave (to each other as well as in general).

The same could also be said for women's maturity as well... treating all guys like second class citizens waiting for the kinght in shining armor with the arrest record and trendy barb wire tattoo on the bicep to sweep her off her feet.

Well, an update...

I'm letting things simmer between this girl and I. I'm not worried if we don't get to the clubs, because I see her alot...

Now though, I'm after this girl from my other job. She's also 18 and in High school [Big Grin] She wants to go out to a few clubs and I might just take her next weekend [Big Grin]

That doesn't mean that the original girl isn't out of the question though, so...whatever happens, happens...you know? I like it either way because I'm acting cool and mellow all around.

I'm like a duck, cool on the surface, and working hard underneath...

That's good to hear and also a good way to go about things. Rushing it and pushing things just makes it awkward for a girl. Wait for her to make the move. [Wink] Because you guys love it when a girl does. [Big Grin] . Don't listen to me. LOL, I know nothing.

But I am glad you are letting things happens as they may.

As a girl like me, rushing things and being too forward only made me miserable. Rejection never seems to have a lighter effect as they go by, sometimes hurts a lot more as they go for me.

Being a bachelor in my mid 40's, I like to delude myself and think I have some wisdom. I learned, for example, if one likes a particular type of woman it is best in some circumstances to keep it to one self:
Me: "I think tall gals are cool."
Cheryl (a co-worker, 5'2".): "I HATE MEN!"
I have learned to avoid "Singles" gatherings as these tend to have a large amount of women who have biological clocks that are tick-tick-ticking and are desperate for a mate.
Oh...the fascination with tall girls was a passing fad. I'm open to a female who is not...deranged.

I'm not so sure that's a joke.

"Nice guy's disease" is, unfortunately, a very real thing. Men and women both are conditioned by our popular culture from a very early age to find mystery, excitement and attraction in things that are bad and destructive. Our society doesn't find anything sexy or appealing in anyone who lives responsibly because that's just too predictable, boring and not mysterious or dangerous. That's compounded further by the need of many Americans to chase after lifestyles they cannot afford.

And I think both genders are very tied up in judging people on their looks, more than ever in fact. The rising rate of men getting plastic surgery only confirms that. Of course, judging people first on looks is pretty stupid, but the more primitive and primal aspects of our nature has us repeating the same idiotic mistakes over and over again.

Men have always been notorious for judging women on appearance. Now lots of women are giving men a dose of their own medicine. That might seem like poetic justice, but the one thing I've observed in all my years of being single is this: there is no getting even with highly attractive people who carelessly hurt others. Confront them and they'll just laugh and move on to the next conquest. Time and its factors of aging, perhaps some VD as well as the loneliness of countless bridges burned are the only things that might dole out some justice to turds like that. Unfortunately, that's even a slim possibility. Usually the heart-breakers out there are going to do just fine. So you just have to accept that bitter truth, move on and protect yourself against such poisonous people in the future. It's hard to tell the difference between such people and an attractive person who actually does have a good heart.

I think the trick to all this is just not giving a shit about superficial, materialistic crap. Youth and beauty fade in just about all who have it. People who desire long term relationships and marriage need to choose based on what will still be there when the prettiness is all gone. But too many are too stupid to do that. Our genitals do more of the decision making than anything else.
[Razz]

I think it's true that some people will choose a mate they consider "average" to just "settle" after they've failed in chasing a lot of more attractive yet unavailable people. The person who is the object of their attention should have the right to feel insulted by it.

However, experience and pain also plays a part. I'm not a bad looking guy and have dated some really great looking women. But I've also had some painful experiences in dating very attractive women as well. It's not as easy to let down your guard and open up to the prettiest ones.

I'm more likely to approach a woman I don't know who is a little more average looking out of hopes she might be more grown up in how she handles dating. They're also not as scary. You don't know what you're in for half the time with some lady who has had people kissing her ass all her life.

That's not to say dating somebody average or even ugly looking is any means of insurance. I've even seen weird looking people do some pretty mean, underhanded shit to others. But it's all an odds game or game of balance. Everyone wants an attractive mate, but most are willing to make concessions in that area in return for someone that's actually going to stick around and be a real companion.

Boy am I late to the party! And I feel bad for missing this. [Big Grin]

Good luck on your simmering Richard. You should see ME dance to hip-hip. I'm so white I'm practically transparent. Better yet, NOBODY should see me dance at all!

Some of this thread makes me feel glad I'm married and out of the dating pool. Of course, it also means I don't get laid anymore. [Wink]

The "pretty girl vs. ugly girl" thing reminds me of an Abbott & Costello exchange:

Lou: I'd much rather marry a homely girl than a pretty girl.
Bud: Why's that?
Lou: Because a pretty girl is liable to leave me.
Bud: Well, a homely girl is just as liable to leave you.
Lou: Yeah, but who cares?

From someone who's grown up fat, I can tell you that is nothing new... it's always been the case. A good-looking girl won't give a fat guy the time of day, and many act incredulous if you even try to exchange pleasantries with them! I wouldn't treat a dog like that. Even the most-unattractive female in school I would still talk to, and could often find something beautiful about them.
