I need to pick up some additional SD cards for my new camera and want to know about your experiences with different brand names.

I'm currently leaning toward the Lexar Professional High-Speed 4GB cards. High speed and capacity are vital for my use.

Assumming you're using it in a camera the Lexar works fine in my EOS. I'm finding that its more how good is the card reader you are using than how good is the card itself. All memory cards are inherently faster than the camera or card reader its plugged into.

Lexar is the best. Make sure to get the 133x.

Also beware some cameras have issues with large capacity cards. Some are unhappy with over 2gig, some over 4gig, even though the manufacturer claims they can run Xgig.

I have a Sandisk eXtreme III (for 3x?) 4.0GB Compact Flash card my uncle gave me because it won't run in his camera. Works fine in mine and allows me to take many, many RAW pictures. Transfer rate is fast, but the camera itself still takes longer than I would prefer to save the RAW format after taking a picture (it probably has to compress it or something retarded like that). When connected to the hyper-futuristic "USB2" port, it can transfer a GB in about a minute. Great for transporting small amounts of porn and illegal warez 4GB at a time!!

More likely that the long delay part is because it is NOT compressing the RAW image.

Mark, it takes the camera longer to write a 30MB RAW file than it does for me to load 30MB of porn to the card from my hard drive.

Joe... Its because the porn you are loading onto the card is probably already compressed... so it loads faster. In reality the camera processor is slower and smaller.

So Adam.... whats so vital about this... does your pacemaker run on it or are you loading porn at faster rates than Joe?

I use SanDisk for all my flash memory stuff. I have a couple SanDisk 2GB Ultra II compact flash cards for my D-SLR. I use a SanDisk MicroSD card for my mobile phone (which unfortunately was the only thing I had on hand for what was one of the most dramatic looking rainbows I'd ever seen in my life -damn, I was pissed I left the D-SLR at home).

I also use a SanDisk SD in my camera, I've had it for quite a while and have never had a problem. Pictures always look great too.

In my phone I have a KingMax Micro SD, not a fan.

For my new digital camera I got the Sandisc 1 Gb card. Due to a pricing glitch at Wal*Mart, it was a dollar cheaper than the 512 card. [Confused]

Am I surrounded by retards? 30MB is 30MB whether it is made out of 70 JPEG images or one RAW image.

I got a 2Gb MicroSD card for my Nintendo DS - I thought standard SD cards were impressively small, but this thing was smaller than my thumbnail.

First thing I did with it was drop it down a crack in the floorboards.
