Actually sitting down and watching, vs. just periodically checking:

In my own theatre, probably about 20 to 30.

In other theatres, maybe three or four.

At conventions - one. (The Wicker Man, what a crap-fest.)

On DVD - probably 10 to 15. It takes me several days to watch a whole movie on DVD because I never have time to just sit for two hours.

Six or seven in a theater... two of them at Mike's theater and two at the America Theater in Casper, the rest in varying places at least two at other locations because I had to sit there due to bad digital tracks or CD ROMS. Generally I only actually sit and watch an entire film at either Mikes place or at the America. Any other theaters in this area are nothing but a dissapointment. I have probably watched a couple dozen off DVD at home.

At least one movie per day either dvd or Sky movies and at least one cinema visit per week but usually two.If ever a day goes by when I saw no movie I feel like I missed something. O shit, as I read this back I see how sad it is. Ray.

Seen: A handful. Maybe half a dozen.
Liked: A somewhat smaller handful.
Paid to see: zero.

On DVD
Seen: Quite a few more. Several dozen or so, mostly chosen by my fiancé.

On VHS
Seen: One... "Saturday The 14th"

On Monsters HD
Seen: A few good (and/or funny) horror movies... "Them!", "Poltergeist", "Jaws", "Friday the 13th", "Halloween", "Prince Of Space", etc.

On Broadcast TV
Seen: Zero.

Y'know, I was all but sure I only saw maybe a handful of movies in the theater over the past year. To double check, I went through the Film Handler's Movie Reviews section to back track. I watched quite a few more movies in the theater in the last 12 months than I thought. There's at least 19 movies I remember watching here in Lawton or at theaters elsewhere, such as a couple up in Colorado:

About 1 per month at the cinema; and probably about the same number on DVD. 3 on Laserdisc during the year. One each on 16mm and 8mm at home. I don't think I've seen any on VHS during the last year, though I still have some.

I never try to watch a film while running it, other than to check the quality every 5five minutes or so or for other 'technical' purposes, e.g. where the subtitles are printed all over the place and I have to adjust the framing during the film. If I'm running something that looks worth seeing, which is the way I 'discover' many of the films I watch, then I'll go back later in the week and buy a ticket. Watching through a port, with the noise of the projectors, and a pair of small mono monitor speakers is no way to see a film. If I can't get back that week then we may well bring the film back a few weeks later; if we don't then I'll try to find it at another cinema, or buy the DVD.

Was this the original, or the recent re-make? I've heard that the re-make was pretty bad, but I haven't seen it.

I saw the beginning of the recent remake. Joe Redifer and I checked out the show at the new Harkins theater on the east side of Denver, specifically its Cine Capris screen. We didn't stay long because the auditorium's sound system was out of whack. The EQ was wrong. Bass was soggy on the movie trailers. The Dolby Digital "Stomp" trailer played in analog. When the feature was playing it just sounded weak in the opening sequences. Not exactly the kind of performance I would expect from a brand new movie theater, especially when another Cine Capris 600 miles away in Oklahoma City puts on a better quality show.

We didn't stay long enough to see Nicholas Cage running around in a bear suit or some of the other odd ball stuff in the movie.

From 7th June last year (my birthday) to the same time this year according to my log I watched 102 films in a cinema. (add to that what ever i've seen on TV and DVD)

I'm guessing 30-35 a year in theaters, rarely on DVD.
