So I get up this morning and take a look at new posts since I last visited and find comments about steel vs. glass reflectors, nice reviews of LA VIE EN ROSE (if you don't know Edith Piaf you are poorer for it) and the new FANTASTIC FOUR, opera on YouTube, and memorable clips of Dean Martin and Victor Borge.

I know it isn't likely to save the world, but it's wonderful and entertaining material. On the other hand, maybe all this positive, nostalgic and fun stuff will make some folks' day a little brighter.

Thanks Brad and to all who contribute to make life a bit more rewarding, interesting and fun. Please keep it up.

Mark. I've been on a mission from God in Chicago. Still not done, my DSL/landline phone is STILL out... 6 weeks now! GD ATT!!!!!!

I'm bootlegging an "open/non-secured" wireless somewhere near my house. HA! What a dumbass! Them, NOT me!

It's signal is very weak... sometimes it works...

Come to think of it, the sewing machine's intermittent probably antedates that of the film projector, which it made possible decades later...

Following our viewing of La Vie En Rose on opening day, my wife gifted me with a CD "Eternelle Edith Piaf" for Fodders' Day
(along with a new version of Johnny Cash and June Carter at Folsom Prison.)

The Edith Piaf CD sounds really great on my desktop, with its big Harman Kardon woofer and twin midrange speakers--more intimate and dynamic than in the living room through the Sony TV.

That led me to youTube, where I found lots of her, from song clips from feature films in French and English to interviews in France and Germany to Gaumont newsreels from the 1950's and '60's. I was surprised to see how really tiny she was, and how accurately the actresses in this new film captured her youthful beauty and near-death physical decay and exhaustion. And yes, her hair was flaming red in her last days.
