I'm looking for a modern version of the old fashioned "please ring for service" bell that used to sit on counters in stores.

What I have in mind is a small button-type thing that would sit on the counter. When pressed, it would vibrate a small pager-type device that I (or an employee) have in my pocket.

This would come in handy on slow nights when the concession person has left for the day and I'm in the office and don't hear (or see) a person come to the snack bar. Anybody ever heard of such a thing?

Don't know about a pager but a wireless doorbell might be an option.

Mike, I've used these B4. They have a "Alarm" input that can be triggered from a button.

You may want to rig up a local bell (or some other signal) that acknowledges to the button-pusher that they have signaled.

I'm sure you can find this system at a street price for less $ than at the mfgr.

Mike, what about a motion sensor hooked to a small beeper. That way the customer doens't need to do anything.

That would be good except our lobby is small, so anyone going to the restrooms would probably set it off.

I looked into the device Phil recommended - haven't decided on anything yet though. I was hoping for something maybe less elaborate, but I realize there's probably not a lot of call for this kind of thing.

You can mask a motion sensor so it only "sees" what you want it to see.
