I worked as a camera & projection technican for Zoetrope in the mid 1980's. In addition to projection-stuff I ran camera & lens tests whenever one was sent out for alignment or repair to confirm they were operating properly. I also wound up being a cameraman (35mm) on several low-budget features produced by his nephew, Roman. The best known is the cult classic "CLOWNHOUSE"

Jim - sophisticated kitty! Spent last night with relatives, whose cat (timid at the best of times) took refuge under a sofa when the fireworks started at around 9pm, and didn't emerge until we did this morning. The tradition of firework displays at the new year seems to have started with the millennium, as it did for a lot of other winter celebrations (e.g. Diwali) at the same time. When I was growing up in the '70s and '80s, fireworks happened on the 5th of November (and during the weekends either side, if Guy Fawkes' Night fell in the middle of the week), and that was it. Now they seem to be almost constant from the 5th of November until mid-February, which isn't good news if you're a cat.

Claude - further to my earlier email and as predicted, the Heathrow strike has been called off. You should be fine - have a good trip!
