There is an Aged/Damaged Film style of plug-in for Final Cut Pro available here. It's cheap and is really quite good, but it isn't perfect since the author of the plug-in isn't really familiar with the effects sloppy exhibition can cause since he doesn't work in the industry. He has asked that I supply him with more information so that his next update of the filter can be more realistic. That is where the members of Film-Tech come in.

-Can anyone post a picture of a typical reel change cue mark? The filter already has similar cue marks, but they are the wrong shape/duration. I'm looking for the ones that have the weird yellow outline/inline if possible.

-Can anyone post pictures of film that has emulsion scratches? Either a shot being displayed onscreen or a scan of the film itself would be cool.

-Anyone have images of lab splices?

-Can anyone recommend anything else that a perfect damaged/aged film filter should have? I've already suggested splicemarks and the excessive dirt around them, etc.

I had better get many responses to this thread. I shall haunt anyone who does not reply with great examples after I die.

If the film is very old and shrunken you might just see the very edge of the perforations on the right side of the frame.

I wish I knew. That image was posted somewhere on these forums but I couldn't find it.
So I posted a copy of it from my machine.

Cue marks, scope print, backing scratches. These look something like the old MGM cues with the 16-point stars.

It may be strange but there is what looks a lab splice in this video at 0:55.

I think it's the tracking from the tape, but make it thinner and it looks just like when a lab splice goes through a projector.
