I go walkin around toen with a grocery cart looking for scrap materials or other useful items to salvage people's trash,usually dry trash. I found a burnt PC,a Packard Bell with a Pentium 1 inside a burnt house that had long been salvaged from. Anyway I powered it up & Windows 95 booted. The outside of the case has smoke/heat damage while the motherboard & everything else inside is covered with soot.

This reminds me of that old Marantz print ad. It included the testimony of some guy whose building burnt down, and his amp was burnt, dropped through the floor, was recovered and worked perfectly albeit disfigured.

I serviced a DTS 6 that was in a booth fire a number of years back. All that was bad was the audio coupling caps on the analog board had shorted fomr the excessive heat. The unit is still running today... all charred!

You could take the MoBo out of the old case and put it in a new one. There are lots of guys out there who have fun putting old computers into new cases. Just check around and you can find all kinds of site where guys with too much time on their hands show off their crazy case mods.

On the other hand, it might be kind of cool to have a computer in a charred case sitting on your desk.

You could make your own movie themed mod, like Nightmare on elm street. Put Freddies glove coming out of it.
