Leaving for Dallas this Saturday and I'm looking for a place to crash for the night between or around Topeka or Wichita, hopefully with enough safe parking for a pickup and trailer.

Thanks,

JJ

Wal-Mart parking lots are usually OK. Usually managers are OK with it.

That would be fine, except for the fact that there will be no room in said pickup and I don't think a tent in a parking lot is a good idea. To be more precise, does anyone have a couch I can use for the night [Smile]

Josh...we got room here for ya...but we are just a little bit out of the line of your trip. Hope it is a safe one.

Find some campgrounds along the way -- it shouldn't be too bad or cold yet if you're lucky.

I would offer, but driving to Lawton from that direction is nearly as far as driving straight through to Dallas (not to mention it would add at least another 100 or so miles to the trip).

A motel, maybe?

Johnson County, KS, which includes cities like Overland Park and Olathe is one of the safest counties in the country. It's located along I-35, in fact, my apartment is about 4 blocks off of I-35 in Olathe. There are lots of parking lots where I see trucks/campers parking for the night on a regular basis. It's also not too far from the Topeka area and a much, much nicer area I might add.

Unfortunately, I'm a cheap ass. At least the price of gas is going down.

Well, dude, just park it in a truck stop and sleep slumped over the steering wheel. You'll save a bundle! [Razz] There's a Flying J at exit 127, on I-35 in Kansas.

Your profile says Fremont, NE? [Razz]

Josh, Martha called me and said there is plenty of room for you in her bed...errr I'm SURE she meant house, if you want to stay in Acapulco.

You can always try a rest stop [Smile]

If your heading through southern Wisconsin, you are more than welcome to stay with me. I've got a spare bedroom with a deluxe futon in it. Its yours for the asking. Ummm, to sleep on, not take! [Smile] I have off street parking too.

I moved a few years ago for mortuary school, I guess I should probably update that and a new picture while I'm at it!

Josh, Martha called me again and said how sad she was that you didn't take her up on her offer to stay at her Acapulco home. She told me she even put clean sheets on her bed...

She also said she hopes you will resurrect your radio show on KVXL...and so do I!
