Just wanted to extend a big Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here on Film-Tech. As some of you may know, it has been an up and down year, with my health issues and other things. I am thankful to still be alive, and look forward to being around to torment Phil for many more years. [Smile]

Well if you plan on tormenting Phil in person, make sure to quietly sneak up on his house and trip the breakers, then hide in the bushes. Once he goes outside to reset them, he can't claim he wasn't home. [evil]

So, Grand-Poopie-BAH, you and your posse ***SNEAK*** into L.A. without letting me know me ya'll are headed this way and EXPECT me to be a mind-reader so I can cancel my other plans?

While yakkin' with Danny, he mentioned you, him, and JJ all were here at my house last Saturday. If he didn't tell me, I wouldn't have known yous were all here.

Two things about the pic you posted:

1) I guess I need to repaint the ramp/railings since it appears Josh peed on it and peeled the paint.

2) I should lift the earth ground from my breaker panel and hook the case to ...ummm L1 or L2?

OBTW: Happy Day Brad, Danny, and Josh... you Turkeys (and longtime friends)! Huggs! [Razz]

Oh, and to everyone: Happy Thanksgiving! We ALL have many things to be thankful for...most of which we take for granted.

For many years, my girlfriend and I have spent Thanksgiving morning as balloon wranglers at the Macy's Parade. A few years ago we were handling "Cassie The Dragon Tales Dragon", and I was able to grab some shots.

My g.f. demonstrates the wrong way to hold a toggle. I can’t join her this year, but she is there this morning under Pikachu.

Walking these things is trickier than it seems, they are large objects that can be dangerous if taken by a wind gust, and you can't really lose focus. Many years ago, the crew on the Cat In The Hat balloon found that out the hard way; they lost control of the balloon in the wind, it then crashed into and snapped a light pole, which subsequently conked a parade watcher so badly that she spent weeks in a coma. As you can expect, lawsuits followed. Now, there is an orientation class/practice run every year at Giants Stadium, and a lot of nervousness on the part of Macy’s.

Looking up my line at Cassie’s tuchis.

After your balloon clears Herald Square, you take it two rights onto Eighth Avenue, whereupon you go like lunatics to get it deflated lest others stack up. All the helium is held in chambers in the balloon, you basically rip open the Velcro that holds them shut, then stomp the hell out of the balloon to free the gas. If you do it right, the whole things rolls up into a 8 X 6 roll-around hamper.

I grew up in NY (Long Island) and always wanted to work the Macy's Parade but
never got the chance before I left NY.

A couple of friends asked if I was working Thanksgiving. I am.
I told them I'd get them passed into the theater FREE
if they brought me some leftovers from their holiday dinners.

Yep, that's me.

The parade is almost entirely manned by Macy's employees and their guests, so you have to be hooked-up that way. She sells furniture at a store out on Long Island.
