Looking through ebay or on line shops, it seems that many business do not like to export. One word:

Customs.

Customs has become such a HUGE hassle to deal with, the paperwork requirements are bad for an individual and even worse for a company. They make you break down the weight, cost and country of origin of EVERY PART of a product, like your screen, and for something of such low cost (and probably very low profit margin) exporting in small quantities is not worth the effort.

Now if someone there wanted to sell and distribute those screens, and could buy them in say, 1,000 plus quantities, it might be worth it to export them.

That screen looks intriguing though, I might order one for giggles.

Cameron, maybe someone you know over here in the US could arrange to send you one?

Add tariffs to the equation as well.

The United States doesn't charge much, if anything at all, on many imports. One reason for that is because of American industrialists who operate factories overseas; they don't want to pay any "taxes" on repatriating their products into this country.

Many nations charge really high tariffs on American made imports.

Thankyou Tony and Bobby, I knew there would be some rational reason! Unfortunty for me the only people who live in the USA that I know well enough to bother with such a request are are currently overseas!
I already have an earlier version of that screen that I bought off ebay last year, but the screen is to low to the ground for my purpose, 2ft rather than 5ft. The new model is ideal but I can not find a way of getting one for this summer season here in Sydney.

If I were you I would get one at that incredable price, I dont think the special offer will last long so hurry, The screen material is very good quality! especialy if you roll it up instead of fold.

Tony if you do get one, perhaps you can order another in the same shipment? I would be willing to cover all the extra costs for mine plus a bit more, shipping to Australia via US post would cost aprox $150 I believe.

Don't worry if its too much trouble, I would be able to get one eventually through either friends or relitives.

We export quite a bit actually! Our latest customer is in Lebanon. We have exported to Austrailia quite a number of times as well as to South America. The key to easy exporting is to hire a good customs broker... Doesn't cost much and makes the job much easier and goes lots faster... rarely ever will anything get held up in Customs if you use a reputable broker.

A customs broker on a large ticket item is cheap
but there fee is usually based on a per line of customs invoice fee and for a cheap item it is costly
Actually it is more of a pain to ship to the US than receive a shipment from the US at least here in canada
There are forwarding agencys that will accept shipments on your behalf and forward them to you with the paperwork done

No problem... see? I can do it too now. We both tried to get it to be 'site approved' several times. I even tried it from my normal computer I use for FT...no success.

They've updated that webpage. The end of your URL ends with: ...13449681&frombrowse=1&rh=&page=1

Cameron's ended with...tgt_adv_XASD3208]inflatable...which I think may be where the problem was laying.

Actually, I updated it. The original URL was looking through a catalog search and had a ] bracket in it, which was screwing up the URL tag here. I just used the actual address of the page itself instead of the "searched" version. [Wink]

It's going up and down seemingly on a daily basis. The $159 is the same as it was on Saturday...but yesterday it was back up to $229.
