Michael O'Leary prez of Ryanair is proposing pay toilets on his aircraft. I guess the guys can take a can on the flight to piss in under a coat but the ladies will be somewhat more inconvenienced. In my opinion if people start relieving themselves on the floor on his planes it's just what Ryan deserves.
Maybe they'll start shaking passengers down for containers.
Pay toilets are not legal in Virginia, so would a plane with pay toilets be required to make them free while in Va. airspace?

I never heard of Ryanair, but they'd be way farther ahead to start charging for soda pop.

If they are a small commuter line, most people probably don't use the crappers on their flights anyway.

Ryanair are Irish, they fly across Europe and have a major hub at London Stansted. At their prices I am more than prepared to put up with the little inconveniences compared to a flag carrier. I got to Berlin and back for £50 which is cheaper than getting the train 200 miles out of London. The loo thing is a publicity stunt, more a way for O'Leary to put across his attitude towards no-frills air travel.

And they are one of the models used for the business plan at Allegiant Air. The pay-loo (1 GBP - about $1.38 USD today - per visit!) is not really a publicity stunt, but it is on hold for the moment for engineering reasons.

Turns out no one makes a coin-operated door lock that accepts both British Pounds and Euros. Ryanair have asked Boeing to develop a card-swipe door lock for their loos. I'll bet it'll cost around $5000.00 USD a door installed... once it's FAA/JAA approved. [Smile]

So in the future, better have some plastic on you if you plan on a trip to the loo on a Ryanair flight. [evil]

And state law is of course trumped by federal law aboard aircraft in flight. In the air over the US only FAA and some ICAO regulations apply...

I would hate to be cabin crew when they put the locks in. Large sections of the British population love an argument even when they're 100% stupid and in the wrong. Still, as long as the flight is cheap and the pound stays crap people will fly Ryanair.

That's for sure ... every time I fly Ryanair I say "never again" ... then I see how cheap it is & I book once again.

Now I'm back in the States, so I won't be flying them much anymore, but it came in handy when I was in Poland as they fly in & out of Krakow, which is where I was living, instead of Katowice or someplace else, like Wizz Air does.

Ryanair are also now allowing people to use phones in mid flight.

So now not only do you need to [bs]

in a sick bag, you have somebody next to you on the phone while you are doing it.

There new advertising tag line

FLY RYANAIR The cabin smells of piss, but the toilets are the cleanest in the air.

I NEVER use this airline, even if sometimes it means having to fly to another airport in the process.

Remember back when they used to have pay toilets in restaurants and airports? Whatever happened to those?

I don't use airplane toilets anyways since they stink like hell and trying to use one while the plane is bouncing around can be tricky. Especially when you are as big as me and your head is hitting the ceiling and your shoulders are rubbing the walls. [Roll Eyes]

I can't see anything wrong with it. If you book a month in advance you'll pay some flights 15 euros.
Obviously, they try to sell everything and continuously during the flight; the planes aren't the cleanest in the world too.

If you want better service, just pay more and book with another flight company. If you flight with Ryanair, you know what you are going to expect.

The most important thing is maintenance and safety. I hope that they won't spare money on that too.

Last (and first) time I was on a ryanair flight I saw few screws on the wings that were not exactly the correct ones, IMHO. I mean that the head of the screws were not in line with the iron of the wings, but they were coming off the iron like they weren't the correct type and the head of the screws were too big... That made me think.
