Marilyn Chambers a Porn star in the seventies was found dead at her Los Angeles home. Cause of death at this time is not known. She was 56

I remember seeing a couple of her films in theatres and have two of them on laserdiscs in my video library.

She appeared in a few non-porn films too- she played a secret agent in "Angel of H.E.A.T." and also sang the theme song to it, she still found plenty of excuses to get naked in that one.

There were certain things you just weren't allowed to show in Japan (they seem to have relaxed a little recently) so when most laserdiscs were made there, a censored version of "Insatiable" was pressed. I haven't seen it but I've heard it's hilarious- lots of cheesy video effects are added to fill in missing time. "Up N' Coming" was the first uncensored porno movie to be issued on laserdisc, but it's still barely watchable because they cut a lot of it for time so that side 2 could be in CAV format. The final scene with John Holmes ends rather abruptly with a video fade.

I think Marilyn Chambers made an album too, I need to find a copy of that.

Marilyn Chambers was from those lost days where female performers actually looked like they enjoyed what they were doing, and they actually looked like adult women rather than shaved bald prepubescent girls. Today's spit and choke, razor bumps porn is a lot of boring, athletic bullshit.

I met Marilyn when she was promoting the video "Insatiable". She seemed like a very nice lady who just happened to have an unusual job.
