Just heard on CNN this morning that Ed McMahon has passed away.

I always thought of him as one of those rare celebrities that I'd like to meet. He seemed like a genuine down-to-earth guy. The closest to him as talk-show sidekick today is Paul Shaffer on Letterman, but McMahon was the master of the art. And a humanitarian as well. He will be missed.

Indeed. He was great at doing his bit on The Tonight Show. He knew just when to butt in and more importantly when to butt out.

There's one heckava Tonight Show going on in Heaven no doubt tonight.

R.I.P. Mr. McMahon.
