Karl Malden has passed away in Los Angeles. He was 97 years old.

He starring with Michael Douglas in the TV series "The Streets of San Francisco".

And he served as President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He had one of Hollywood's Longest marriages having celebrated their 70th Anniversary in December.

Some of my favorite parts/characters of his are in the following:

"Dead Ringer"

So far 2009 has been a curse on famous actors...

Oh WoW!
I watch "Streets Of San Francisco" almost every
day while I eat lunch. In fact, I did so today,
before I heard the news. It's fun seeing all the
locations here in The City, often right here in
my own neighborhood where they filmed.

Last year I bought a copy of Hitchcock's "I Confess"
(1953-with Montgomery Clift) on a bargain DVD pile
and Karl Malden's character in that film was very
similar to the role he wound up playing 20 years
later in "Streets of San Franciso".

A great, under-rated actor!

Wolfman Jack is dead? I somehow missed that news
when it happened. (But that would explain why I
haven't heard/seen him in some years. . . )

Oh No- As I'm typing this news is coming over the radio
that Mollie Sugden, who played Mrs. Slocombe in the British
TV series "Are You Being Served has also passed away.

Well we have three actors gone for today.
Karl Malden (97), Mollie Sugden (86) and Harve Presnell (75).

Harve Presnell has passed away in Santa Monica @ 75 years old.
