Interesting how YouTube knows now what music you have in the clip even if it starts way into the video. I had an ad come up about 5 seconds in wanting to sell me your training montage song.

I tried to ride a unicycle once. I have no idea how guys can ride these things. My 'boys' were certainly unimpressed. But Rick sure seems to manage it very well.

We have a store right off Route 66 about 5 miles east of town called POPS that carries a lot of the obscure root beers and sodas too. Its quite the attraction. It has a huge (3 or 4 stories tall I believe) neon lit pop bottle that changes color.

Speaking of Soda Pop.. Recently a micro brewer tried to open a Micro Brewery in Logan, You-Taw... town council said no... guy had already signed the lease on the building.... what to do. He opened a Root Beer Micro Brewery instead and has about two dozen different root beers to offer. He's also makin a killing there!!!

You're right, Brad. Although I think I'd be crying too if my plane was going straight up like that.

We always made sure the kids had a drink for take-offs and landings to solve the 'popping' issue. Never had a problem.

Sadly, most parents these days are not "good parents" like John.

A friend suggested I bring an air horn onto the plane and fire it off whenever a baby screams. This might scare the baby into silence (problem solved), or if not would certainly get the attendant's attention, to which I would reply "how is my air horn any less obnoxious than that screaming baby which you are doing nothing about?"

I am DEFINITELY taking an SPL meter with me on the next flight and will document the results. A baby or two screaming its lungs out on a flight I am on is a guarantee, as anyone who has flown with me can tell you.

Let the baby scream. Screaming will cause the air pressure in his ears to equalize faster. It's like pulling off the proverbial Band-Aid. A couple minutes worth of screaming to get the baby's ears settled is a small price to pay for the whole rest of the flight's worth of quiet.

Moms with half a brain in their head will play with their kids during takeoff and landing. Laughing and playing does two things. It helps equalize the pressure and it keeps the kid's mind off any discomfort that does happen.

A pacifier helps with some kids. If the kid is old enough, give him some candy.

Brad, I know how annoying this is. I'm not saying you don't have the right to be peeved. BUT, you're just going to have to get used to this kind of shit. It's what kids do. There's not much you can do about it. Its just human physiology.

You're missing the point Randy. It is BAD PARENTING. These parents should have the common decency to respect others on the plane as well as their own child.

I don't get angry when I am at a Chick-Fil-A and there is a baby screaming. Sure it can be annoying. Babies will scream and cry and I get that, but the difference is that at a place like Chick-Fil-A if the screaming is too much for me to handle I can always just leave.

In an airplane I and another couple of hundred people are TRAPPED and there is no escape. The fact that there is already a high noise level on the plane is bad enough, but since it is a small enclosure the babies screaming becomes even more offensive to the ears since their noise cannot dissipate and on top of that because of the noise floor they scream even louder to be heard. The parents should not take their kids on the plane PERIOD. It is cruel to the passengers AND it is cruel to their infant.

If there is anyone who would like to throw their 2 cents into this topic, please start a new thread. This thread is for video links and to get it back on track I will post a video equally offensive as a screaming baby.

Thus, logically, I agree. It is bad parenting.

I'm just saying that the first 5-10 minutes after takeoff and before landing are going to cause this in many, if not all babies. A certain amount of it is to be expected. Babies don't know what Eustachian tubes are, yet.

I don't usually get impressed with stage choreography, much less half-time bs, but this is a keeper and pretty freakin impressive. Talk about precision and not a misstep....looks nearly impossible, but there it is.

Those girls are the Kings Firecrackers Jump Rope Team from an area near Kings Island park near Cincinnati Ohio.

That is one amazing routing, and they go on for 8 minutes. I can't even jump with a SINGLE rope, let alone what they do. Truly a world class routine.

Joe and Jen, Can I offer an observation about your Gizmodo Weekly clips? I've quite enjoyed watching each of the clips and they have a very polished production value. What does come to mind, however is the quality of the audio. I would recommend either a cleverly attached lavilier microphone or a boom mic in close proximity to Jen. Each of these videos sounds like the audio is being captured with the on camera mic and has lots of room reverberation which adds kinds of an amateurish ambience to the whole clip. Good crisp clear audio without room reverb will give the production value a huge boost. Sound quality is one of the first things emphasized in most film schools and is one aspect of film/videomaking that is readily apparent in the final product. Just an observation.. no offence intended. Cheers!

Sean, all of them used a boom mic. We put it a little closer on the 3rd time, but it is hard to keep it out of the picture. You must be wearing headphones. The best thing to do would be to deaden the room, but this isn't meant to be a high dollar production. However it does sound a shit-ton better than other v-blogs and stuff like that.

The XLR condenser mic(GT55) connects directly to the camera, if we had used the on camera mic it would have sounded WAY worse.

The show is for shits and giggles, maybe to get noticed through word of mouth and get picked up for a real show... who knows. But we're not getting paid, its coming out of our own time and production setup we already have. Unless ya'll want to donate to increase the production value of the show that would be really awesome.

I was being a bit facetious with the 6 o'clock news remark. Look at the level of production quality at most TV stations in smaller viewing markets. It isn't all that great. Natural audio on news packages will often be top mic audio because the videographer isn't going to go to the trouble of carrying along a boom mic (much less bringing along an additional crew member to hold and point the damned thing). Thankfully the mics used by the news reporter dude can be plugged into the camera. Otherwise it would all be top mic audio.

That warehouse was an accident waiting to happen.
It looks like the bays were under built and overloaded.

If a fork lift backed into a support like that I can see it taking out one or two bays but cascading the whole place down like that should never have happened.

Even if one entire row somehow came down it never should have been able to topple the adjacent row just by falling into it.

Those guys are so funny...they do this at the end of every week on a current affairs show here.

John Clarke (interviewee) plays different characters each week, sometimes the Prime Minister, sometimes the Police Commissioner...whoever is in the news that week. Best part is he never once tries to imitate the person...he's always EXACTLY as he is here with the same voice. Great stuff. A good example of his talents are on view in this classic skit. Wall Street's woes.

Brian Dawe (interviewer) always plays himself.

John Clarke is the funniest man both in his acting and his writing to come out of Australia since Paul Hogan (or at least since he moved here from New Zealand )

That porn print is in amazingly good condition for its age, however that splicing tape sucks. You can see even in this low resolution video how the right side of the tape isn't cut well at all and will show up as a huge horizontal line across the screen. Go to 1:22 or 1:41.

Here's my take on this:

Theory 1: - That Xbox 360 was dead even before the video started. Everyone knows that Xbox 360s are so poorly designed that they fail simply from being powered on.

Theory 2: - That dude is so used to his Xbox 360 dying that he replaces it often, thus the reason why he is not very surprised or upset when he sees it.

Theory 3: - This is what Microsoft does to them before they ship them out.

My vote is for theory 2 being the most likely one.

Bottom Line: - Xbox 360s fail at a catastrophic rate, LOL!

Not only that but it really put the stupidity of the bootleg thing out there too...two birds with one stone sort of thing. I liked it a lot. The nailed the repeating of "talking points"...even that they didn't want their "bootleg" to be bootlegged or shown in an inferior medium (DVD only!). I'm surprised the studio doesn't go after them for just the clips they have. I also like the guy taking the call in the theatre...they seemed to have captured the "feel" of the stupidity too!

Randy: Notice the display image moves around every few seconds to prevent an image burn-in.

Sorta similar for the reason of the "orbiters" used in Image Orthicon TV cameras. Although those are optical, the method in the CRT clock is electronic.

I kind of know that but, with all those years of my teachers bashing, "Don't burn my CRTs!" into my skull, it's become sort of an autonomic reaction.

Now that CRT oscilloscopes are getting rare the sense is getting even more heightened.

I just bought an old, used scope and, knowing that I probably won't ever be able to find replacement parts for it... at least not inexpensive parts... I tend to baby it. If I walk away from it for more than two minutes I always try to turn the intensity down.

It's almost like a post-hypnotic suggesiton!

This was a performance in which Jim Morrison masturbated on stage.

The print really isn't in much danger of flying or even moving during his threading procedure, however it is in grave danger of becoming excessively dirty and possibly scratched due to his "pull leader until the splice is where I need it" mentality. I do not understand how this method was even conceived of in the first place. If you MUST do this, at least thread to the take up deck, then thread the projector and leave it be. Then when the show starts, turn on the motor. When the splice gets to where you need it, press start and then turn off the motor switch.

Leader on the floor = evil. Anyone who disagrees with this is 100% WRONG.

Boy, this sequence from the 2004 movie "Der Untergang" ("the Downfall") really gets picked on considerably.

....even though by itself in original form, "Der Untergang" is a great movie.

Bruno Ganz studied Hitler prior to the making and during the filming, the filmmakers felt that they were seeing and listening to Hitler himself.

That film is priceless.

So much of the historic cinema content has been lost and that is a dire shame. Do you have the original 35mm version or a video copy?
I am looking out for a B&W 35mm copy of the RCA drive in films that were released in the late 50's,.... or any other older drive in films that could be reprinted. I'd love to be able to see those again.

Well done on saving a terrific piece of Aus Cinema history.

Joe, the people who are regular vloggers get paid for the views - and ad revenue - they generate. The more viewers they have, the more they get paid. That's why many of the popular vloggers have one or more spin-off channels.

For those who are not so popular, it's probably more of a vanity thing than anything else.

Ha! I ran that (back whenever it was) at the Westline Drive-In. I remember it as being one of the 2 brand new prints I ever ran there. Not sure if it was because it was actually new or if it was just that no-one else wanted to run it. We played it from Wednesday to Saturday and it did record business...just at the wrong end of the scale.

Set in a small mid-west town...and filmed entirely in New Zealand, I remember the movie as being absolutely terrible...but in a good way.

It appears we did play it for 6 nights after all...the Sunday night movie often got extended when the Wednesday movie failed and ended Saturday night. The Sunday movies this week must have truly sucked for them not to have extended them.

This is the problem with rap Joe, there is absolutely ZERO talent needed to produce it. All it ends up being is a repetitive thump with a line of lyrics repeated over and over (because the "artist" isn't smart enough to actually memorize more than that).

The disk inside the cartridge resembled a view finder disk and rotated as each exposure was used. I believe each exposure was about the size of a 110 frame.

15 images could be captured on the Kodak Disc film - almost a 16mm frame size and true, like an old "Viewflex" 3D image viewer disc.

It was a novel idea at the time, but only for snapshot pict taking . Small enough for carrying in your shirt pocket - was the marketing plan - for sudden photo taking.

It was destined to replace the old 126 cartridge camera since the 110 camera was the big hit at the time.

Those things are fucking horrid! I recently had to deal with some of those things and they are a bitch and a half to do anything with.

Imagine a "Viewmaster" disk about 2-1/2 inches in diameter. The frames are small. Yes, about the size of a 16mm film frame. It takes special equipment to print them and most photo processing labs don't have it. Many never did from the start. There was a special adapter to hold and rotate the disk and a special lens to do the enlargement. Many labs only bought the holder and used their existing lenses.

Nowadays, it's like pulling teeth to find a good film processing lab, let alone one that can still print disks.

Since they have plastic hubs, they are hell to scan at home. I have tried it.
I finally was able to scan images off them but not without fooling around for several hours just to figure it out.

The batch of disk film I had developed was about 10 years ago, but the disks were already about 10 years old at that point and none of the pics came out or the lab they were sent to didn't process them correctly.

I'm glad you posted that, Jim. I was introduced to the work of Tezuka Osamu by the head film curator at the Wexner Center for the Arts about a month ago. This is some of the best animation I've ever seen.

BROKEN DOWN FILM is really good, but I would especially recommend LEGEND OF THE FOREST. This is not only an excellent animated work, it is also a complete history of animation from the very earliest days. It is absolutely brilliant. There is also a film called JUMPING that is a lot of fun.

I don't think LEGEND OF THE FOREST is available on any of the free video sites, but there is a DVD titled THE AMAZING WORK OF TEZUKA OSAMU. I ordered it from NETFLIX.

I always thought Schlitz marketing/commercials saying "When you're out of Schlitz, you're out of beer" was right on target! How TRUE!

After all the GOOD beers like Bud, Heineken, Miller, Corona, and others, etc, are gone, only Shitz...errrrr I mean Schlitz is left. And when that's gone...you're outta beer!

Of course if you like barfy "green beer", there's Rheingold.

I heard that one a long time ago from one of my dad's Marine Corps friends.

Regarding the weakness of American beers, yes I agree the big name brands (Bud, Bud Light, Coors, Coors Light, Miller, etc.) are indeed weak. You get a hint of beer taste, but it's mostly metallic, watery horse piss. And here in Oklahoma, those "domestic" beers are even more of a waste of time since they're diluted further to a 3.2% limit of alcohol by volume. You've gotta exercise your bladder just to get a buzz.

But that's not the whole story on American beers. This country has dozens of well established "craft" breweries that create beers with real flavor. Some are pretty strong. For instance, "Raging Bitch" from Flying Dog Brewery is 8.3% ABV. I've seen some craft brews go above 10% ABV.

Here's a few "mass production" American craft breweries I believe are worthy of note:
Boulevard Brewing Co., Kansas City, Missouri
Choc Beer, Krebs, Oklahoma
Flying Dog Brewery, Aspen, CO; relocated to Frederick, MD
Left Hand Brewing Co., Longmont, Colorado
Rogue Ales, Newport, Oregon
Shiner Beers, Shiner, Texas

It seems like the Rate Beer web site is pretty biased against most beers that are available on any sort of widespread basis. At the same time I've had a few beers that scored in the 80-90 percentile that tasted awful to me. Judging a good beer is a pretty subjective thing. But I will agree totally with Rate Beers' 99% score on Chimay Bleue. That's just a fantastic Belgian Trappist beer. I wish it didn't cost so much (over $20 for a 3 pack gift set).

BTW, Corona was mentioned earlier. Only "gringos" drink Corona. For Mexican beer, I'll pick Bohemia, Dos Equis, Modelo, Pacifico, Sol and Tecate before I drink a Corona!

You may have thought we were joking around, but we weren't. It was shot in 3D, but the "eyes" were too far apart for such a confined space and the DV codec it was shot in destroyed the red color space making ghosting a nightmare.

I've never seen that on Youtube, but I've done it back when I was a booth newb. Just rip the splice for the last reel after it comes out of the projector and guide it to a different deck/ring. While that plays, you break down the rest of the movie and you get to leave a whole 15 minutes earlier. Yay!

You Tube remove Hitler parodies.

Final Solution for Hitler Downfall spoofs

It's not funny to make fun of Hitler - at least, not according to YouTube / news.com.au Source: news.com.au

MANY of the Hitler Downfall parody videos on YouTube that have besieged the site in recent years have been taken down after complaints by the German production company that owns the right to the 2004 film.

The Open Video Alliance reported Constantin films, owners of the rights to the film Der Untergang (Downfall), upon which the parody videos are based, filed the copyright claim.

The parodies, which have become a popular viral meme on the internet, all focus on a single scene from the movie when Hitler screams at his generals upon learning that Germany is about to lose the war.

As the character playing Hitler lashes out in German, the subtitles in English from the original movie are replaced to indicate a completely different reason for the Fuhrer’s rage.

It is unclear how many parodies have been taken down and how many remain on YouTube, but many could still be seen yesterday, including “Hitler reacts to new Star Trek movie 4”, “Hitler is informed and rants about the Apple iPad” and “Hitler finds out Tony Romo dumped Jessica Simpson”.

“Hitler Gets Banned from XBox Live", which had over four million views, was one of the videos taken down.

“There are hundreds of Hitler Downfall videos, and it is unclear what will become of them,” the Open Video Alliance said on its website.

"The burden of filing a counternotice or a claim of fair use to restore the video falls on individual users, so it will be difficult to reverse this action."

The Hitler Downfall parody meme has won a stay of execution after YouTube advised its users to fight back against attempts to remove the immensely popular clips from the site.

Earlier this week several of the parodies, created by adding fake subtitles to Hitler's famous rant scene in the 2004 German film, vanished from YouTube. The production company, Constantin Film, argued they infringed its copyright.

The most recent parody is Hitler's supposed reaction to Constantin's decision to remove parodies, but the clips cover topics as broad as the death of Michael Jackson to the recently misplaced iPhone prototype, both of which are available to view on YouTube. Many others, though, now only display a pop-up message saying: "This video contains content from Constantin Film, who has blocked it on copyright grounds."

In order to remove the clips, Constantin is using Content ID, a tool supplied by YouTube to enable them to set different policies depending on the proportion of their content used in a video or the length of the clip.

But in a blog post following the takedown requests, YouTube product manager Shenaz Zack pointed out that the company had made it easier for users to dispute inappropriate Content ID claims.

"If you believe your video is fair use, check the box that reads 'This video uses copyrighted material in a manner that does not require approval of the copyright holder'," Zack wrote.

"Once you've filed your dispute, your video immediately goes back up on YouTube. From this point, the claimant then makes a decision about whether to file a formal DMCA [Digital Millennium Copyright Act] notification, and remove the content from the site according to the process set forth in the DMCA."

The blog post didn't mention the Hitler Downfall debacle by name but linked to one of the parody clips as an example.

Online rights advocates say that fair use provisions in many countries such as the US were created to allow some copyrighted material to be used for purposes such as satire or parody.

Social media blog Mashable argues the Downfall clips are clearly fair use and notes that some of the videos that were taken down have already been restored, including the "Hitler Orders DMCA Takedown" video.

"Oh, and there's one more interesting tidbit: The Downfall takedowns took place on what would have been Hitler's 121st birthday," Mashable reported.

YouTube's Zack said over the past decade the evolution of the internet had altered the landscape for both traditional media companies and the doctrine of fair use, and the media industry had tried to keep up.

"Hundreds of millions of people around the world now use the web to connect and interact with content online, and a huge percentage of them go even further: they express themselves via parodies, celebrate their favorite videos with mashups, and use music in educational presentations," Zack wrote.

"The people that upload these videos are typically the biggest fans, and are exactly the kinds of consumers rights holders should be embracing."

Some commenters on the YouTube blog still weren't happy, clearly outraged at the attempts to remove the Downfall clips.

"The attack on fair use you guys have enacted with Content ID and the Downfall parodies has inspired me," one wrote.

"I'm deleting my YouTube account, and I'll be using AdBlock whenever I use the site to be sure YouTube isn't getting any money from me."

Strangely, the director of the Downfall film, Oliver Hirschbiegel, has been quoted saying that he found the clips "so funny" and that "you couldn't get a better compliment as a director".

You Tube are beta testing a new subtitle system that transcribes what it thinks the video is saying. It can make for some pretty funny translations but you have to do a few things to get them...for example: click on this trailer for 'On Golden Pond' then roll over the 'CC' link and scroll up to 'transcribe audio' then press 'OK'.

Nothing says Hollywood more that the instantly recognizable, great 20th Century Fox Fanfare with CinemaScope Extension (composed by Alfred Newman). For awhile it seemed to have been relegated to the dust bins of history and only found on Fox titles of the past, never again to be heard on their new releases. At least not until Mr. Lucas's STAR WARS, the most popular movie series of two decades, opened with it and thus revived it for what seems will be until we can all routinely book vacation trips to the Dagobah System.

Then of course along came Fox TV and now it is morphed on a daily basis into every variant possible under the sun while still keeping it marginally recognizable.

But here it is (with the Star Wars Medeley) on what has to be one wild electronic organ-type instrument. The musician playing is pretty spectacular herself.

I've watched it a few times and it seems that the instrument is initiating some of the stop changes on its own, if that is possible, because she doesn't seem to manually flip any switches, except at the very beginning before she starts the medeley, yet you can see that the same keys produce very different voices throughout the piece....maybe some midi going on there? The opening drum roll for example doesn't seem to be created by her fingers at all, unless possibly she is doing changes with her feet that can't be easily seen.

BTW, almost 1 million views. We should be able to knock it over the top.

I noticed the same thing.

Some of that might be controlled by the right foot on the expression pedal.

104 year old film clip.

I received this in an email, so if the information below is not correct...my apologies.

This film, originally thought to be from 1905 until David Kiehn with the Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum figured out exactly when it was shot. From New York trade papers announcing the film showing to the wet streets from recent heavy rainfall & shadows indicating time of year & actual weather and conditions on historical record, even when the cars were registered (he even
knows who owned them and when the plates were issued!).. It was filmed only four days before the Great California Earthquake of April 18th 1906 and shipped by train to NY for processing. Amazing, but true!

Damn, everyone is buzzing around like gnats in that video... errr... film. A policeman would never have to worry about making his ticket quota here. Clearly nobody has any regard for where anyone else is going. I thought today's drivers were bad! And, of course, everyone is dressed to the nines.

Technically, it seems as if the image is a touch stretched horizontally and running a frame or two per second slow.

"a trip down market street", in san francisco. i've seen it 2 or 3 times in 35mm (undistorted). you wouldn't know it except for the ferry building in the distance. it's a remarkable film. and yes, it seems to predate traffic rules.

You know you suck when your footage has to stretch to fit a 4:3 window. I bet the asshole who shot that felt like shit for not using an anamorphic attachment at the very least. Also,whoever projected that is also an asshole because it kept going out of frame. Probably just a newly-trained usher.

Agreed. That building is still there and not stretched. The actual Market St isn't as interesting these days, however. Only its history makes it interesting. It's too bad that nobody in Denver could afford motion picture cameras in or around that time.

A very interesting video done some years ago, it shows the internal failure of a very large power transformer (like ones in a substation). Note how the internal coils and structure move around before failure..the end of the video is the most dramatic and was the events right before it exploded.

Here is some 3D footage from Film-Tech's Eqsuire IMAX video shot a few years back.
Be sure to read the description for full details.

What is interesting is I am getting some polar opposite opinions about the 3D. Some viewers feel that the Film-Tech 3D title doesn't work at all but the video looks great. Others feel that the Film-Tech 3D title looks good but the video looks bad. To me both look fairly good except for the very last video shot which you will see why we couldn't make the whole thing 3D. I think it might have something to do with the calibration of people's monitors as well as people's ability to see 3D. It's clearly not an exact science.

This condition has hardly ever before been diagnosed in a cat, is rarely found in dogs and is more common in goats. The kittens are able to walk, but they cannot run or jump. aside from this they are normal. sad to report that the black and white kitten (spike) died on 27th october from respiratory failure. thanks for all the kind messages. I agree Brad..it is sad. I almost lost my cat Gizmo a few weeks ago to congestive heart failure.

I had no idea that cats could get the "fainting goat syndrome."

And based on the buttheads I've seen posting comments on YouTube I can see why they disabled the comments.

I've seen the news stories regarding goats and a similar situation in humans, but not in any other animals. In the case of goats it was speculated it was a survival mechanism(playing dead) that is somehow malfunctioning in the brain. In the case of predatory animals such as cats, I don't know why they would need such a survival technique.

Actually those letter bases usually fit down farther into the tracks, but at the moment the tracks are full of ice!

Those letters are really weird -- they're hand-cut out of sheets of fiberglass. When I was a kid the marquee had stiff wires, and letters that clipped onto the wires. By the time we bought the place, all the stiff wires (except one) were gone, and the clip-on letters are gone too. I'm not sure who made these cut-out letters or how long they have been here, but they pre-date me, that's for sure.

The guy on the video said he worked in radio and talked about the difficulties of having one song with a loud level playing up against another with a normal level. The funny thing is most radio stations, recording studios, etc. have rack mounted compressor/limiter devices that can automatically adjust audio to play at a certain level.

Basically the music industry doesn't need to bake all that clipping crushing shit into the music data itself. Other pieces of hardware can do that during broadcast. Why foul up the "software?"

So many people in the music industry need a vicious slap across the face.

Its just an optical illusion, the water is actually flowing downhill, but with some very cool visual tricks it looks like its flowing uphill. If the camera were moved you would easily see how it works

I can't see using a Honda U3-X to replace the simple task of walking around in an office. If they could scale the technology to where it can move over odd surfaces like gravel or grass as well as asphalt and concrete and then hold enough of a charge to travel at least a few miles then it would be a serious competitor to the Segway.

Still, it's really interesting just as a technological achievement.

I can see a use to this. I know someone in an office building that has trouble walking. Its not bad enough to need a wheelchair or scooter, but having something to sit on and move around would be a major help to them.

Seriously! There ain't no friggin' way one man or even two are going to stop the damn thing going down the mountain!

The thing is probably toast. Even if it's repairable, you'll spend a fair bit of time in the shop putting it all back together. No matter how you slice it, race day has come to a close for these guys.

Now, you are already lucky enough to wind up in one piece after a fall like that. Why press your luck a second time? If you get in front of that thing it can easily crush you to death if not break your arms and legs. Why not just let the thing come to a rest naturally? You're probably not going to be able to do anything about it.

In fact, the thing mostly did come to a stop by itself. The second guy appeared at the last minute and he happened to be there to right the snow machine, just as it came to a stop but I do not think he really stopped it.

If it was me... I would never be stupid enough to try a stunt like that in the first place but... If it was me, I'd be saying, "Houston, we have a problem!" then that would be that. I would just wait where I was, rest up from the fall (slide?) and let the machine go where it may... any place where I am NOT. Then, when I am sure that me and my rider are all right, I'd go down and survey the damage... and probably laugh like hell!

Morons! Only a Frenchie would do something so stupid!

(BTW: If they really are French, it wouldn't be a 500 lb. hunk of metal. It would be a 226.79 kg. gros morceau d'acier.)

Monte,

That is a great film preservation documentary.

We were able to screen some of those restorations at the Temple Theatre as part of the Great Lakes Cinephile Society conventions that were held there.

When they are played full frame at the proper speed, those old films are quite incredible to watch.

I especially liked seeing the little notches in the edge of the camera masking that told which camera shot the footage. Many films were shot using just one or two cameras.
