International Talk Like a Pirate Day is coming up on Sept. 19. Anyone else participating? We had one patron even show up to the theater in a pirate costume last year.

In reply, I quote Monty Python:

"If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing."

I suspect the pirates would say things along the lines of "I know, right?"
Or better yet, they should raid the comic and anime/manga conventions and harass the weeaboos.
(For the actual adults amongst us, "Weeaboos", also known as "Wapanese", are Anime/Manga fans who fancy themselves to be Japanese, but behave mostly like the characters in the mangas and animes, NOT like actual Japanese. They even fantasize about going to Japan to live there and develop mangas and animes, though fortunately most of them can't afford to do that.)
I suspect the Japanese find them as much of an oddity as we do.

Laughing, smiling, dancing and singing are all good things but one does not need a special "day" to engage in it.

Also, the quote doesn't mention talking like a pirate anyway. [Big Grin]

I hear September 19 has also been gazetted 'International Kick A Person Speaking Like A Pirate In The Balls For Being Such A Dickhead And Needing A Special Day Designated To Talk Like A Pirate Day'.

That's bad timing. [Eek!]

As they said in Inglourious Basterds, "[they] will be shot for this!"

And I am sure that is what would happened for such a dumb thing-people running around like a pirate. I mean that with the greatest of respect, Phil. I think..

Maybe they're just trying to keep them from talking like a pirate the other 364 days of the year. You have to look at things from all perspectives.

Isn't this "deja vu all over again"? Doesn't this come up as a yearly Thread now? Seems like it's something more deserving of being included in the Bob Marr portion of Film-Tech.

I propose anyone who ever posts the title of this Thread (including attempted trick variations) be banned from this site for at least two hours or for two years, whichever seems more appropriate at the time.
