Lately, I've been driving around a lot just for the fun of it... checking out theaters and the sites... So I've decided to make a thread of my journeys. Hopefully to venture out into other states as well. Feel free to chime in about the theaters that get mentioned or theaters I should check out.

If you ever find yourself in Hawaii someday and can find the time from sight seeing and spending time at the beach, We have two excellent movie theatre complex in Honolulu you can visit. The first one is Consolidated Theatres Ward Centre 16 which has been voted as Honolulu's Best movie theatre in both of our two major newspapers and is very popular with everyone. Among it's sixteen auditoriums, it has four large house that seats close to six hundred people. The sound system and projection is superb! One of the auditorium is set up for digital projection and Dolby 3-D. The theatre is part of the Ward Centre Mall in central Honolulu. The other theatre is Regal Dole Cannery 18. It is not as beautiful as the Ward but is truly a wonderful place to see a movie. All of it's auditorium are the only theatres in Hawaii that are THX certified. One of them it set up for digital projection Real D 3-D and another digital house is set up for IMAX. Both the Ward and the Dole has flawless film presentations and I have never noticed images on the screen that showed signs of print scratches or dirt.

It is unfortunate the Waikiki Twins and the Waikiki #3 does not exit anymore as well as the Hawaii IMAX Theatre. All of these theatres were operated by Pacific Theatres when they owned Consolidated Theatres before they sold all of it's Hawaii theatrical assets to Reading International about two years ago. The Waikiki Twins were considered two of America's finest theatres and so was the Waikiki #3. Boxoffice had a two page article about the Waikiki #3 after it was renovated and reopened with new wall draperies that replaced the original tropical forrest decoration that made the theatre world famous after it had first opened in the early thirties. It also had a new and awesome sound system, a new screen and 70mm. The IMAX theatre was something special and I also miss it.

Thunderstorms? Shee-it. When and I watched one of the Austin Powers sequels (Goldmember), a freaking tornado was touching down in a housing development just south of the "Mann Chinese" theater in Aurora, CO.

My dad was really pissed that I left the cell phone out in my truck. But screw it. I don't take operational cell phones into movie theaters. I'm cool. People who mess with phones in movie theaters are the opposite of cool. They are pond scum floating dumb-ass amoebas.

Where's the Harkins Theatres entry? That's the one out on the east side of Denver at the site of the old airport. It might be worth a visit since there's a Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World and Super Target nearby. Anything with Target next door is automatically legit. That's because Target isn't Wal-Mart.

I used ISO 3200 for the Elvis Tiffany since Jen was moving very quickly and it was in an extremely dim mall. The ISO goes up to 25600 or something like that. It makes a pitch black night look as if you were standing on the sun.

And a very noisy looking sun at that. My EOS 5D Mark II can do ISO settings of 12800 and 25600 when you enable "Exposure ISO Expansion." But those ISO settings show up as "H1" and "H2" on the camera's top LCD panel. The setting also lets you reduce the sensor's gain to ISO 50, which sort of makes the camera act like you've attached a neutral density filter.

I rarely ever shoot anything at or above ISO 3200, but I am very pleased with how well the 5D Mk II works at that level. Noise levels are very low. My old DSLR (a Rebel XTi) only when up to ISO 1600 and any pictures shot at that setting would be noisy as hell. At 12800 or 25600, images from the the 5D Mk II are very noisy and would only be useful down-sampled to significantly smaller sizes.

I usually just stay at ISO 100 if I can. I don't like to go above 400. I'd rather just leave the shutter open for a few minutes at ISO 100 than for 20 or 30 seconds at ISO 800 or whatever. It all depends on if you're taking a picture of a moving object or not. The longest I've had my shutter open on my camera is 2 and a half minutes in the mountains. I'd post a picture (if I still have it), but I don't want to derail Jen's thread.

2.5 minutes? I guess that one is set on "bulb". You could try shooting a photo of Jen trying to stay stone still for 2 and a half minutes. It might make for a good "impressionist" kind of image.

Between ISO 100 and 400 with the 5D Mk II the images look identical. Even ISO 800 is difficult to tell apart from ISO 400. Only at ISO 1600 the differences start to become slightly noticeable without the noise reduction enabled and more at 3200. If noise reduction is enabled the 5D Mk II does really well up to ISO 3200.

Tim, you are 100% correct. You can see interior pictures in the Warehouse under Mann Kipling Place 6 as well as more complete and descriptive pics under Elvis Kipling Place 6. Very, very GC.

A booth for each auditorium
Reserved seating
Leather seats on upper level of auditoriums
Bar and Grill on second level above the lobby
and much much more!

Oh yeah, I even got a tour for the mens restroom. The urinals don't flush, it uses a special jell to push liquid down...
