Had some free time and wanted to post on here. Late last year I purchased my first home. As a "single dude" I love having some of the freedoms that I have. Part of the freedom is converting the garage to a home theatre. The previous owner of the house had an unheated, uninsulated room for one of their kids out there. I have been tearing the room down and reusing the scraps to build the booth the past few weeks. The "booth" is 6' by 18'. The way I am building it upon moving I will be able to convert the garage back so that I am able to more easily sell the house. Due to the way I'm building this a part of one wall is two feet away from the ceiling currently so that the garage door operates. When finished, the wall will be extended.

The past few days I installed the break box and started the booth wiring. I'm still waiting to pick up the mains line, but that has been ordered. 1/2 of the floor has been raised by 2" and insulated. Cell wire, automation wiring, exciter wiring installed. Simplex XL and Orcon CV1600 console with automation and monitor order. I'm hoping to get the drywall and the other floor supplies this weekend. A lot of the booth materials will brought from my parents out of my Motiograph AA setup. The processor is a CP50 running into 3 pyramid amps (I can't remember the specs right now).

I'm lucky to have a few friends from the theatre I use to work at who are willing to help with some of the projector install. It's amazing what food/beverages can do ;-]

I'll try to post update on here and will submit the pictures when I'm finished.

I'd love to hear what everyone here has learned when building their screening areas.

Seriously, congratulations. We will all love to see your finished screening room. What kind of gear are you planning on installing? [edit: I glossed over the part of your post where you described what you are installing.. my apologies.. Hope you keep a build log and post pix when you are done! ]
