Only one problem with this result.

It gives a best & lowest score but it would be much better to give an average over all the people that have taken the test.

also Its more fun trying to get the highest score you can.

So far the best I have done is 1187.

To be fair, I've had lots of practice looking at color swatches from Pantone, DuPont, Sherwin Williams, Roland, etc.

The problem with this test is that it is dependent upon your computer monitor to deliver accurate colors. Most people have inexpensive monitors, and even those with accurate monitors rarely have had them calibrated with a spectrometer.

As such, we have no way of knowing if it is our eyes or the monitor that are inaccurate.

I showed the X-rite test to one of my coworkers (who also does design work). She had a perfect score. Perhaps that's not surprising since X-rite says only 1 out of 255 women have color vision problems compared to 1 out of 12 men. Some of those color vision test products may be pretty useful in conducting job interviews for painters, designers, etc.

One thing I find confusing about the test stats is that "highest score for your gender and age range" thing. I wonder if that's just counting how many people in my age group scored perfect/zero on that online test.

Four for me on my laptop. Colors mixed up were in the blue-purple range - over the word "color" on the chart.

I got a 12, but I did it in a big hurry. I guess I don't care really...to date, nobody has asked me "which of these is the bluest?" or whatever.

Well, you don't need any sort of good color perception as a projectionist. You need good VISION, but you could do this job color-blind without any difficulties that I can think of.

Now if you are a color TIMER (Grader) then it is a different story. Ironically, the best color timers (graders) turn out to be women who are carrying the recessive color-blind gene (the ones whose sons will be color-blind). Apparently they have two different blue receptors on their cones, a true blue and a color-blind blue. So they actually perceive two different blues, almost like the fourth color layer on Fuji films. They are considered tetra-chromats, whereas the best male color vision is only sensitive to three colors, making us at best tri-chromats.

Neat test!

I'm 55 and have lots of experience as a camera shader and video projectionist - both specialties require the ability to rapidly figure out color differences and match hues. My areas of low color discrimination appear to be in the green and blue-violet ranges.

Got an "8" rushing through it with lots of daylight contamination in the room and an uncalibrated CRT monitor. I'd like to try this again in a dark room. Can't do anything about the monitor.

Apparently it's a good thing I no longer do that kind of work! At least my color vision is good enough to still fly professionally, if I ever try to return to that kind of work.

Zero after 10+ minutes of serious look. Some of them trying to remember how to switch my monitor color from srgb to native

Regarless, I only swapped two blocks after the change, so no bad.

As said before, color "problems" on males are quite common, so don't worry about it. And LCD monitors are often notoriously off the mark anyway.

Remember we all see, hear, taste and smell a little differently!!!! Some a lot

Some people, mostly woman, may have four color receptors in their eyes and are capable of seeing colors the rest of us mortals can't.

This reminded me of a recent article somewhere about seing "impossible" colors (like blueish yellow -- NOT green, but a yellow that is "bluish").

Sounds like some of the real IQs on here may be lower than your color IQs.

And, no, 0 is not a good score for a regular IQ.
