This movie palace is still open. I worked this theater in the late 70's. It was still a single theater with over 3000 seats, they made into a triplex by adding two theaters under the balcony, what a mess. It's now been restored somewhat and they running select films. and concerts. And believe or not a Geico commerical was filmed in the lobby. Check out website and upcoming movies. Where's New Egypt? Do you still live near the Theatre?

I was there in February to see 'The Third Man', also heard the organ played that weekend. I was previously last there in May 2008, but the organ was not in use that weekend.

The've now got the DP-70s up to the box, though not yet in use, so we might see a 70mm show there in the not too distant future. There are also quite a few live shows there these days. There are others here who work at the Theatre, and will know better than I do what's going on there.

I am the senior (by age anyway) volunteer projectionist for the Landmark Loews Jersey project, and I generally project the Friday movie shows. Were still running carbon arc! If you stop by during one of the Friday shows, I would be glad to take you up to the booth. Robert Minichino, who is also on this forum, is our chief technician and a member of the Friends Of The Loews board.

I tend to post our movie shows in the "film yak" sub forum in the "Finding Classics On The Big Screen" thread.

Hi Stephen, New Egypt is central new jersey. Actually live in Jackson home of Great Adventure. I still work in Jersey City at Liberty Science Center which is about 10-15mins from theater.
A friend of mine told they were putting in 70mm projectors.

Is that the place with the Omnimax, or IMAX Dome, or whatever they're calling it now, that the HBLR goes close to? I was going to take a look at the place once, but there were queues to get in, and I didn't have the time.

It's IMAX Dome and we co-hosted the GSCA conference in 2008.We had Dome day and AMC Lincoln Square hosted in New York City.
