Is the video data cable for a Dolby Cat 701 Penthouse the same for the Cat 702?

Yes...the video cable has not changed since its inception...it works on ALL Dolby Digital readers/processors. You can use it on basement readers, Cat 699, Cat 702...etc.

Note, we will also make any custom length you want too.

Another question: In a change-over booth, do both Dolby video cables have to be the same length?

(I have Cat 702s and a Dolby CP-650 in my home screening room)

Hi Phil.

Short answer: no.

Longer answer: no. [Big Grin]

It is common for changeover booths to have custom-made cables made up of the correct length for each projector to avoid coming up short (we all know how bad that is) or having to coil up excess in the projector base or rack.

I would think that unless one cable is 25 feet and the other is some ridiculous length (say over 200-300 feet) there would be no noticable effect at all.

Since the video level is determined by the source LED...when the system is calibrated, any length difference between the two is negated and it typically will be only about a 10-foot difference, if that.

We have always made our cables custom length (and pulled through conduit/greenfield/liquidtight)...never matched lengths (why would you?).

So fear not grasshopper.
