William Fraker lost his battle with cancer on Monday , he was 86 years old.

Fraker was a past President of the American Society of Cinematographers. He was nominated 5 times for the Best Cinematography Oscar from the mid 1970s through mid 1980s but never won. To have cinematography work nominated alongside films like Days of Heaven, Apocalypse Now and Close Encounters of the Third Kind is still impressive. The National Society of Film Critics gave Fraker its best cinematography award for Bullitt in 1968.

Sad to hear. He was one of my all-time favorite directors. I LUV'd most all of his films.
