That's right, our little old movie theatre is celebrating its 80th birthday today.

It opened September 6, 1930 showing the movie "The Bad One" with Dolores Del Rio.

It's only had 4 owners (or sets of owners) since it opened; I started out as a projectionist in 1976 and purchased it with my brother-in-law in 1979. I bought him out in 1992.

I would have to say that buying the theatre is one of the best decisions I ever made.

Definitely "Major Congratulations!!" - And how do you like the Digital Cinema world by now? (and I do like working with GDC servers!)

Monte - after a couple of minor glitches, everything's good. What's weird is, I can't stop myself from going upstairs "to thread" when I first get to the theatre. [Big Grin]

[thumbsup] Mike
I always enjoy the way you portray the history of the Roxy in your website. I bet your shows are as spectacular and as artistic as the way your site is constructed. Looking forward to more of your renovation sections and a kudos and [thumbsup] to another 80 years and more.

Heartfelt congratulations for owning a successful movie theatre that has now existed for eighty years. May there be many more years and I bray that they will be happy and profitable ones.
