We have a What did you buy today thread. Why not a thread about what music your listening to? This way we may be able to pass an artist on to someone who has never heard of them. My artist that I'm sure none of you have heard of except for a few friends in the UK would have to be Seasick Steve. This man is amazing. I've added a couple videos for your listening pleasure.

I have the XM radio on at work (we sell music here so it's OK, folks) and currently it's on Channel 49, Classic Rewind.

At my desk I'm currently listening online to KFI from Los Angeles. (Talk station)

My most recent music purchase was Heart's new CD, "Red Velvet Car." It's OK, but not great.

Here's a group, Sparks, originally from the US but who now reside in the UK. Been around since the 70's, their output continues to increase and also remaining 'current'. Lyrically driven and eccentric to boot, this a a group who continues to adapt and survive.

Ron Mael has always been my hero, and the early clips always had me glued.

Sparks had motion picture fame in the movie "Rollercoaster." They were the band playing for the big party at Magic Mountain.

Luci's got me listening to multiple Glee soundtracks (which are available for downloading right after they air).

These days if you ask her what her favorite genre of music is she'll say "Covers".

Shameless plug, but I listen to Chet and the Molesters, and Deja Vu . Since the mid eighties, I think I have carried and set up more sound equipment than needed. The good thing is, I get free drinks at the bars [Razz]

. My cousin Nick plays lead guitar, and between the 2 bands, they are probably the most talented in the tri-state area.

I dug out some old Beatles cd's and have been listening to them for the past two weeks in my car. Usually I listen to AOL Radio on my computer at my desk. My favorite station right now is the 90's Alternative.

Slightly off topic, I have to give credit to Usher or whomever it was that came up with the great marketing idea to get people to buy CDs again. In the Justin Bieber CD, you can find a gold ticket that will win you a private concert at your house. I guarantee teenage girls are buying those CDs instead of just downloading his crap.

OK a bit off topic, but I am now thinking that Pandora is a mixed blessing. Sure, its Artificial Intelligence that can pick out cuts that have the same feel as the songs and artists that I tell it I like, but I am now convinced in my cynical old age that there must be some corporate conspiracy going on with the record companies and the owners of the Pandora site because every so often they stick in cuts that couldn't possibly have any relationship to the music types I've input. I've input Edith Piaf as well as you Aaron, and with that kind of music style, how they can they possibly come up with hip-hop tunes added to my list is just weird?

And if you have used up all your "thumbs down" regection of songs they add -- they give you about 5 or so rejects -- and after that you can't stop what's playing. You have to leave the site completely to get some crapy song that you never picked to stop playing. Pain in the arse

In fact, all of a sudden, in the middle of the summer for some reason they started injecting Christmas music cuts. Now that is not a corporate conspiracy but just Artificial Stupidity.

Plus, I don't like the idea that I can't replay a song I really like.

Luckily, my Piaf station has not been corrupted. I get a solid diet of her, Ella, Billie Holiday, and some other great vocalists.

The only weirdness I tend to get on it is Ray Charles. Although I like him, I don't really want his stuff on my Piaf station.

Currently listening to the noise of an airplane jet, a flight attendant with her speaker turned up to the point of ear pain telling us we will continue to sit on the runway for another 40 minutes before we can take off...and a screaming baby going for the world record in decibles.

Even rap "music" would be better than this.
