Chris J. Condon 3-D pioneer has passed away at age 87 from a stroke in Encino, California. He was the President of StereoVision.

Chris was a HUGE resource for me and many others in the '80s for 3D. He really seemed to know his stuff quite well.

I pretty much learned everything I know about 3-D from Mr. Condon. He answered a phone call from me when I was a teenager still living in The Bahamas trying to make 3-D films on Super-8. I got the phone number for StereoVision out of a back issue of American Cinematographer (July 1983?) that was all about 3-D. He was very generous with his time and knowledge and pointed me in a lot of good directions. In the end, I was able to do Super-8 in 3-D.

I first met Chris when he was still operating Century Precision Optics, now part of Schneider; prior to his start of StereoVision.
My first purchase was a couple of lenses for my Arriflex IIB at a price a "starving cinematographer" could afford. I delt with him my times during the 1980's boom of 3D. My last visit with him was at Showest convention in 2008....always cordial and promoting 3D.
