CNN and NY Times are reporting that Osama bin Laden is dead and the US is in possession of his body.

I just saw the President's address on TV.

Well... I'm never happy to think about anybody getting killed but I would certainly be glad to buy a round of beer for the guy who pulled the trigger.

This is all great news, but now the world needs to be ready for revenge from the supporters of OBL...

Embassies have now been placed on alert...

..for added terrorism and worldwide strife.

This is the time for all to stick together as a one great nation.

That's great news. Congratulations to all allied forces embarked on this hunt for almost 10 years to get the bastard, at the price of their life, and especially to the U.S. commando who led this last operation. Monte is right, we need to unite -- and not just the U.S. -- for we are not over with terrorism.

I hear there is already controversy about the authenticity of the picture showing Bin Laden's corpse. Jesus! Some people are ready for anything just to get an audience. We've seen the face of the man often enough over the years to see that it's definitely him. Doesn't need experts to confirm.

Tom Petrov, dude, can we lay off the politics of the issue. FWIW, as flawed a filmmaker Moore is, F911 actually said nothing about leaving Osama alone and actually warned us of Karzai.

I personally was hoping that Osama would be caught alive but severely maimed so he could suffer. But I will take this.

Yeah on Coast to Coast AM. George Noory had a guest last night who thought it was all staged. I think that was a little untasteful so fast. But I think it had to do with the guest as it was a coincidence that Noory was hosting a guy for some other reason and just so happend to ask his opinion on the matter.

It was a smart move to have the Navy dispose of the body at sea. No grave site for followers to visit and stage rallies.

I doubt it. They probably took enough blood and other tissue samples to do whatever studies and forensic work they need to do in the future. Keeping the body would only be a liability. Better to get rid of it at sea.

Looks photoshopped.

Wolf Biltzer has it all figured out. He says that the U.S. government clearly did not trust the Pakistani government to take on this mission. He also did his own make-up for the last nights CNN telecast. He was also watching the Capitals/Lightning game.

He also said he had hunch Bin Ladin was caught he was called late last night, but he didnt want to be the one to break the news.

I was thinking they should have loaded him into one of those radio controlled drone planes and flown it into one of his "palaces."

I also don't think it was political. If political, the timing is wrong -- there's another whole year until the presidential election will really heat up, so if it was REALLY done for political purposes, they'd have waited another 8 or 9 months to do it.

In NYC last night we were dancing in the street.

DING DONG THE ASSHOLE IS DEAD!

....on the Brooklyn Prominade overlooking the scar where two towers used to stand and were 3000 people died for nothing. Yah, I used to think of myself as a pacifist....past tense.

They say he was "buried" at sea in deference to Islamic burial law. I say he didn't deserve that dignity. The people who he had incinerated didn't get to be buried according to THEIR religious rituals. I hope they didn't throw all of him into the sea. Surely we kept SOMETHING to show the world it was really him that we got....maybe like his freakin ugly head. Stick it on a pole somewhere like the pig in LORD OF THE FLYS and let NY city rats tear it apart then broadcast it on CNN.

Sorry, I am in that kind of mood.

Cut off his pecker and put it in his mouth. Cut off his head and stuff it up his ass. Feed him to a herd of hungry pigs. Let them digest their meal and shit it out. Scoop up the shit, kill the pigs and put everything, pigs, shit and all, into an industrial meat grinder. Dump the resulting soup in a large oil tank and let anybody whose relatives were killed in New York City take a piss in the tank. When everybody is done pissing, douse everything with crude oil, stir it with an old canoe paddle, set it on fire until it burns to ashes. Douse the smoldering ashes with stale beer, pave it over with concrete and plant a giant American flag in the center of it all. Paint lines on the pavement and let people park their cars on it for free but only if they were born in the USA.

Did I leave anything out? [Wink]

And no, Randy, you didn't leave anything out, although I would save half the content, put the other half in a tanker with a dust sprayer apparatus and let it sit and ferment for a coupla months until the rank smell is so bad it will knock people out, and then do a fly-over over all the known Taleban and al queada, er....al-qaida....or uh....al-qa'ida, (and no, they don't get capital letters) training camps and strong holds and just let it loose. Drop flyers along with it: "PIG-FACE COMIN' AT YA AND HE'S ALL YOURS, ASSHOLES! COMPLIMENTS OF THE USofA"

How about we throw the pig shit into a corn field. Use it to fertilize a nice, big crop of corn then harvest the grain, bag it up in big bags with American flags emblazoned on them and send it all to Pakistan.

The grain would be free but they would pay the shipping cost.

In all seriousness:

I am reading the whole saga over at CNN.com All the talk about courier, trailing him back to a compound he can't afford, burying their trash, no phone, no intenet etc etc...then the helicopters arrive, take him out, drop him in the sea....a movie about this would be pretty damn good.

Sounds like either Michael Bay or Oliver Stone should be getting a phone call any day now.

I fail to see what good "faking this" would cause. Sure it's a feather in the president's cap but like I said above, if it was a political move it's about 8 months early. If Bin Laden really is dead, the popularity "bump" for the president will fade long before the election (gas prices will be back in the forefront of the news next week); and if it does turn out to be not true, then his re-election chances are shot to hell.

And, if it's really NOT true, there's a whole 1.5 years to prove it -- which wouldn't be that hard in this day and age.

Do you realize how stupid we'd look if Bin Laden sends a tape to Al Jazeera holding up one of today's newspapers like Harry Truman?

We may never know the full story, but I feel confident that this news means we won't be hearing from him again.

I don't think that there is any doubt that he was killed, however, everything else about the whole story could be manipulated.

-45 minute gun fight
-hiding behind his wife
-close the Pakistani Army Academy
-Navy Seals
-Pakistan Gov had no idea
-the courier

Any of the details can be faked.

It seems like they knew he was there for a while.

But again, I ask...what good would any of that do? And of course they knew he was there for a while....real life isn't like a movie where Bruce Willis shows up and starts blazing away with a machine gun.

The dude is gone, let's feel good about that, but remember we're still going to have to take our stupid shoes off at the airports, so his legacy lives on.

Mike-The whole point is propaganda. The whole "buried" at sea this is TOTAL propaganda constructed for those who follow Islam.

Also, the Military saying "oh we planned a proper burial" etc etc. Total wagging the dog whether any of it is true or not.

The leaders of Iran or Libya sure are watching this.

I for one believe that they still have his body.

You still didn't answer the "why." I can't think of any reason why they would keep the body but tell people it was buried at sea.

Why would they want to keep it? It's not like they need to run tests to determine he was an evil murdering bastard.

The U.S. Government has claimed that they have killed OBL. They say they have a photo, have buried him in the sea, and have made a 99.9% DNA match.........Has any of this evidence been released?

No no no! Tom Petrov has the right idea! He sees clearly. He knows we didn't land on the moon. He knows we took down the World Trade Center ourselves. He knows all about the aliens who have come here. He knows all about Skull and Bones and what they do in that secret society. He knows about the Shadow Government. He knows about the secret city built underneath Denver International Airport. He knows about all of the ready to eat meals that FEMA is stockpiling and he knows why. He knows about Planet X aka Nibiru which will come dangerously close to Earth in late 2012 and he knows that the government knows and that they are not telling us. He knows that the government is super great at keeping secrets that NOBODY can unravel... nobody but Tom Petrov.

Watch out, world, Tom Petrov has it all figured out!

If Tom believed all of Joe's other, kooky conspiracies, then maybe I'd think he was nuts. But all he said is that he wanted more evidence that the guy was dead and there was propaganda going on. I cry "no fair" slamming a guy for something he never even said. (But I don't believe the government is hiding alien bodies, for what it's worth.)

The truth is, lots of people would like more proof (or at least details) and some of the stories we heard yesterday are already changing. So Tom's not entirely out-to-lunch. Does this mean that Osama isn't really at the bottom of the sea? No, I think he's really there.

Posted by Frank Angel (Member # 248) on 05-03-2011, 09:38 AM:

Thing is, no administration could be so stupid as to try to hoax something like this -- it would be their ruination if it got out, and how could it not? Does the gov spin propaganda? No doubt. Is this mutha dead? I believe he is and quite frankly all the other details for me are pretty insignificant. Let them spin a bit on it if they feel they can get more milage throughout the world fussin it up a bit.

Quite frankly, I don't care where his body is or even if it's at the bottom of the sea or not. He's dead and they can spin the movie about the raid and how reverent they were with the Muslim burial ritual they did or didn't perform anyway they like. Dead is dead, but you are right -- I think the world is going to want more than some DNA results in an envelope. Which brings me back to what I wished they had done: HIS HEAD ON A STICK.

No gloating from our government, "just the facts, sir"; Obama calmly went on with the country's business knowing this was in the works. I believe they did everything they could to not set up a martyr situation for this rat; no burning of the body, burial before sundown the next day, no place on dry earth a future shrine can be put up, etc.

Jesus, Tom, can't you please just shut up (or at least can the Mods give us a button to make him go away). Diarrhea is usually a disease of the colon, not the mouth.

You must have missed the part where he matter-of-factually informed us that the government is storing alien bodies and is not informing us. Once you start believing one conspiracy theory it is very easy to start believing the others. I have a friend who is VERY into that kind of stuff, I'd say it's almost kind of addicting to believe alternative theories for just about everything. Nothing wrong with wanting evidence or questioning the story we are fed, though.

My friend's latest conspiracy is that HAARP caused the Japanese eathquake.

I have a good friend who believes in the "sooth-sayers" like that disgusting fat sow who seems to have shares in the Montel Williams Show, Sylvia Brown. This cow preys on these sad people who have lost loved ones by murder and accidents, etc., and who are in deep grief and she just pull this nonsense out of her ass. It's maddening. And my friend believes it. I have to listen to him go on and on about her and other "psychics" as he recants their predictions.

The thing that kills me is he's otherwise a bright, intellegent guy. I just want to slap him up side the head and say, "Do you think Sylvia Brown could have predicted that...DO YOU?"

All you have to do is look at her and you know she's got body odor that would kill a horse.

Bobby, this part is not true. I just don't agree with everyone who just simply believes the US Government. Not only that, the Government lies to people all the time. There is also some propaganda going on right now...can you admit that?

The story of him being a participant in the firefight has been revised. Then the human shield...then being armed...all I am arguing that there is propaganda going on right now by the US Admin and spinning it their way of what "they" want to show us or tell...it is an advantage to the US if they do.

There are some who might argue, why was he not taken alive if he was not armed???

Kudos for killing Bin Laden...but I am saying that don't believe all that they tell us.

How is it an advantage? I would like you to type up just one reason why it is an "advantage" to the U.S. if they tell us (for example) there was a human shield when really there wasn't.

The whole thing happened so fast, it's not at all surprising there are differing accounts of what happened. Can you recount your every move every minute of every day? Could you do that if it was dark and you were in a big hurry and there was a gun-fight happening and one of your helicopters crashed?

You keep trying to cast the U.S. government in a bad light and I can't figure out why.

No, I am saying the U.S. Government like many other governments tell us what we need to know. There is nothing wrong with that.

The latest info is that the helicopters that were used were new helicopters with radar evading technology.....this was figured out because of rec that was found

Why would SEALS try and destroy the helicopter while the Pentagon will not comment on it????

Mike I have a question for you...The there was info found on the hard drives found in the complex...would you want that released to the public?

They explained that they destroyed the helicopter so as not to leave any of it behind. Why give "the enemy" access to any technology or material that might be on board that copter?

Also, if the Pentagon had to comment on every question asked it by random people around the world, they would never have time to do anything but answer questions. Plus, maybe there is intelligence that would jeopardize future operations if it's made public.

Would I want the info they found there at Casa Bin Laden released to the public? No. The public doesn't need it. Besides, if the government released it, what would Wikileaks do?

Yep. More devil's advocate stuff happenin'.

I just don't agree with everyone who just simply believes the US Government. Not only that, the Government lies to people all the time. There is also some propaganda going on right now...can you admit that?
No. I can't.

I can't because the whole "the government lies to people all the time" thing is a form of group-think fashion. It is very easy for anyone to have it in for any sort of organizational body that has any authority, especially the United States government. So, NO, I'm not going along with it. Too many other SHEEP go along with all the conspiracy theories being pondered about the United States goverment when the reality is the government is being run by ordinary people not much different than any of us.

When a chopper goes down in any conflict or operation, it is destroyed. This has been the way for atleast the past 20 years if not longer. We are protecting out tech, its not like we can send in a tow truck to pick it up

Why would the government come out and say that Osama was unarmed if they were intent on lying to us and more interested in propaganda? Is it because Wikileaks would otherwise find out the real tr00th? They keep releasing information that makes them look worse and it is not because someone else challenges their official story. Instead, it is because they are seeing the evidence firsthand themselves.

Bin Laden turned out to be unarmed, but couldn't there have been a reasonable expectation of the place being planted with explosives in case of intrusion? He had money and phone numbers sewn into his clothing; we don't know if he could have had time to slip on an explosive vest, or find some hidden trigger to something worse.

The plan was probably to shoot him in the head all along, just in case of any tricks up his roomy sleeves.

True. I remember the last page of any Army technical equipment manual contained instructions for destroying said equipment. That was over 40 years ago when I served.

Let's share some simple facts:

The asshole is dead. If he weren't would the enemy be vowing revenge?

Keeping his body would incite attempts to recover or somehow obtain relics, in addition to hoards of negative feelings that we somehow were desecrating him.

Burying him on land, assuming any country would have been willing to accept the corpse, would have resulted in the place becoming some sort of shrine.

Disposing of the corpse at sea was the correct thing to do. I hope the water was really deep where the did it.

Keeping him prisoner, if he had lived, would have resulted in a security nightmare as would a trial.

All in all, I could care less about the minutia of the raid. The important fact is he is dead.

The press is making too much of the guy being unarmed. An unarmed person is still potentially dangerous.

For instance, some victims of home invasion and murder were killed by unarmed men. The unarmed man merely fought and gained control of the home owner's gun and used it against him. If you have a gun aimed at someone you must be prepared and willing to shoot rushes at you to gain control of your weapon. Not that Bin Laden would have much of a chance in a fight against a Navy SEAL. Even if a gun isn't in the situation an unarmed man can still beat you to death or strangle you with his bare hands.

Like Hillary said, the SEAL team probably didn't want to take a chance on the guy making use of a weapon not plainly visible. Remote triggers for bombs aren't big. An ordinary cellular phone can be used to set off a bomb. Guns can be hidden in many places within a bedroom.

I wouldn't doubt that the SEALS had orders to kill.

In a clutch situation you react to the circumstances, do what needs to be done and worry about the details later.

Every one of us has been in tense situations.

Maybe it's a car accident. Do you have time to think whether you should swerve or step on the brake? Maybe you will. Maybe you won't.

Maybe it's a projector malfunction on a Saturday night with a house full of people. Do you have time to read the manual and follow all the troubleshooting steps? No, you use your judgement and act accordingly.

When you are in a strange house, confronted by strange people with guns there is only one ass you need to take care of. That's the one six inches below your belt. You use your judgement. You follow your training and you pray that get get out in one piece. At the end of the day, the last man standing plants the flag and calls "Game Over."

That's the way it works. Shoot first and ask questions later.

Besides, we all know bin Laden had said that he wouldn't be taken alive. Well, the flea bitten, camel fucker got his wish. Didn't he?

There's no such thing as being partially dead. Dead is dead. The bastard is dead. That's all that matters.

I hope they dropped his moth-eaten carcass into the Marianas Trench.

I guarantee that they had orders to kill the target, if that was the order, then failing to kill him (by taking him alive) would mean the mission failed...All others (except for 3 people) were tied with plastic zip cuffs while another was shot in the leg.

Tom, you don't know what orders the SEAL team had. Statements like "I guarantee they had orders to..." are silly. None of us were there. None of us were involved with the mission. The only thing any of us can do is GUESS. Your guesses are no better than those of anyone else.

Further, if you're trying to paint the SEAL team and the US government as somehow being in the wrong on this mission you're only going to inflame things on this board, derail the discussion into the political zone and get the thread promptly locked.

I simply said I guarantee that the orders were to kill, thats my opinion. On top of that, if they had order "to KILL" then returning without a "kill" is a fail.

Haven't read every post so sorry if this has already been said, but I read an article that said the Seals were under orders to assume Osama was booby trapped if they found him with clothes on and were given orders to strike. If they had found him naked, he might have made it out alive (yeah right).

He did say that Obama will get to the bottom of a cover-up if there was one in this case.

Couldn't say it better. The guy played in a rough game and he got what was coming to him. Truth is, no one really will ever know what it was like to be those SEALS at that moment. At that point, not only are you following orders but I'm sure instinct as well. I have every bit of faith in their judgement to take down that wretched scumbag.

Considering he is responsible for the deaths of thousands, I think the punishment was just.

I wonder who OBL's favorite porn star was?

Porn found in OBL's house

An extensive porn stash was found in Osama bin Laden’s hideout by the U.S. commandos who killed him, according to Reuters.

The collection consisted of modern electronically recorded video. Reports from Abbottabad said that the hideout was cut off from internet and other communication networks, so it is unclear how the materials were acquired.

It has not yet been released where in the compound the materials were discovered, so officials do not know if the pornography was viewed by bin Laden himself.

Confiscated materials from the compound included digital thumb drives. U.S. officials believe this was a principal means by which couriers delivered messages to and from the al Qaeda leader.

According to three other U.S. officials familiar with gathering evidence from investigations of other Islamic militants, the discovery of pornography is not uncommon.

The propaganda machine is working full speed

I like how the US government is trying to "de-myth" Bin Laden.

Brilliant I say. Very, very important that they downplay his mythical image.

1. No picture
2. US buried him at sea
3. Video of him watching himself
4. He dyes his facial hair
5. Porn found in his compound
6. He supports Arab uprising

What's next....we're going to see him blow out candles at his kids birthday?

A U.S. official said it is "puzzling" that bin Laden would "suddenly join the bandwagon on the uprisings."

Washington (CNN) -- An unreleased audio message from Osama bin Laden, produced in late April, days before his death, in which he talks in support of the so-called "Arab Spring," was seized at the compound during the U.S. raid, according to a U.S. official.

The message refers to the revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia but doesn't mention the uprisings in Libya, Yemen, Syria or elsewhere.

The official spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the classified nature of the information.

The official said it is "puzzling" that bin Laden would "suddenly join the bandwagon on the uprisings," months after they started and not mention all of the Arab nations in turmoil. For instance, the official said it was a "head scratcher" why bin Laden would not indicate his support for the uprising against Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, a man bin Laden detested.

"Why not try to inspire AQIM," said the official, referring to al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, a regional affiliate.

Since protests began across the Middle East, U.S. officials have said the movement undermined al Qaeda and offered an alternative to dissatisfied youth.

"The revolutions in Tunisia and in Egypt and the protests elsewhere that are leading to reforms in a number of governments I think are an extraordinary setback for al Qaeda," Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said on March 1. "It basically gives the lie to al Qaeda's claim that the only way to get rid of authoritarian governments is through extremist violence."

The U.S. official also said that among the seized materials were written communications from bin Laden expressing his desire to see U.S. President Barack Obama assassinated.

The United States expects to have further interrogations of the three wives of bin Laden who were taken into custody by Pakistani authorities after the U.S. raid on the compound. The U.S. official concurred with a description of the meeting on Friday with all three wives as hostile.
