I just found a link for the movie "Take This Waltz" that doesn't come out till next month but they seem to be offering it on a variety of different providers early. Has anyone heard of a new push of on demand services?

It's only 9.99 to rent on ITUNES.... and they are advertising it as see it "one month before its in theaters"

Magnolia and IFC have both been doing this for awhile. They are both small indie disturbs who are doing everything they can to get their films seen. Not a pretty situation.

We've run a few that were On Demand before in the theatres. I don't think it has hurt us, as our audience is mostly old and don't go looking around for on demand pix.

They also don't have big advertising budgets to carpet bomb the media with the fact they are On Demand (though I think I have heard some NPR spots for some).

I'm curious to know what other's experiences with this are.
