Hello.

At CineEurope in Barcelona last week, all the major studioes did their presentation of their upcoming movies.
The presentations was not plain ugly Powerpoints, but looked much more smooth, was in CinemaScope format and had high-quality animated backgrounds.
Does anyone know what technology (software and hardware) was running the show?
They had a multi-projector setup, and probably used a video mixer for the fades between presentation and the DCP footage, but I'm curious to know if some special software was used to handle the animated baggrounds (the quality seemed like uncompressed).
I would appreciate any info [Smile]

That could probably be done in the latest version of powerpoint. One can set the aspect ratio to scope in slide setup, and I've seen recent powerpoint presentations with looping video backgrounds. It's all in the knowing how.

Yup - doable in Powerpoint 2010, certainly, and uncompressed video backgrounds are also doable assuming that the computer running the show has a hefty enough processor and graphics card, perhaps with an uncompressed SDI output into the booth.

Since Powerpoint is not good at embedding video files other than wmv, many churches have moved to ProPresenter, which can run DVD content and HD video, can do very good animated background work as well, and works both PC and Mac platforms...but, yes, Powerpoint can currently handle animated background plug-ins.
