Our office computer has decided to start rebooting itself daily. It happens at 4:58 AM every day. There are no scheduled tasks or any other things scheduled to make this happen and we've had the same computer for about a year with no issues...WTF?

It's a Dell all-in-one running Windows 7. Our computer guy is stumped (which is very rare)!

If you don't have any scheduled reboots, check the computer for viruses.

There have been one or two viruses which cause the computer to reboot every day without warning.

Fail that, it could be a power supply issue or a motherboard/memory failure.

Try setting you computer clock back a couple of hours and see if the reboot occurs at 4:58 real time or computer time.

RTS is the culprit here.

Open RTS. Go to Setup - Local Computer. Click the Other tab. Under Restart Computer, uncheck the Enable box.

MIKE! Thanks, that was definitely it. I'd been to every other menu in RTS except that one. I dunno how it ever got checked in the first place.

I assume they're refering to the RTS (Ready Theater Systems?)
POS & Ticketing software, cuz I had the same mystery re-booting
problem a couple of years ago until I figured it out.
There's an option in the "local computer setup" menu that
U can set to automatically re-boot your computer at a set time.
If you don't have RTS and your computer is re-booting, you've
got another problem, as a couple of other people have pointed out.

Can agree - being the RTS software since it wasn't specified in Mike's first post where it sounded like a regular personal computer was having unwanted boot issues - why I never heard of "RTS" in any home computer.
