Well Known Kodak engineer Paul Preo passed away last week. I'm not sure of his age but he was well into his 90's. He did a lot of pioneering work on the behavior of motion picture film in projection.

wow what a job that had to been, studying film behavior in a projector, maybe cool....BUT... what would you be looking for & why...now if he spent a whole working career studying this, think of the conversation with him about the film behavior...that could be interesting !! Or.... and you can't rule it out, maybe the guy's boss played a trick on him & told him to go study the film behavior in a 35mm film projector to get rid of him for a few days & forgot about him,so he study the film & reported on it....hummmm, because.. why would you want to study the film behavior in a projector...LOL it is one of those things that makes you go hummm..

Or he was looking at the stress points and their relationship to the sprockets and the holes in the film that facilitate movement.

Then there is the effect of heat on the imaged film frame and how density of the image affects heat distribution.

Oh Yes, there is a lot of Ultra Violet light in projection, do you suppose that this might cause some problems with image permanence and affect the life of the print?

Static electricity and film cling used to cause platter feed problems. Perhaps he was the one to develop the coating to eliminate that terrible problem.

Who knows what other things he discovered that have nothing to do with how the film runs through the projector.
