Any gues on how far into the year it will be before we see even a teaser trailer for the new film?

Considering it isn't being released till Christmas season of 2015, if Fox follows the "NATO Marketing Guidelines," we shouldn't see a trailer until June 2015. But I doubt they'll hold out that long.

Disney bought LucasFilm, so they will be releasing the new Star Wars movie coming out in 2015. Unless it gets pushed back to 2016, which is still a possibility. In any case, I would expect to start seeing the teaser trailer as early as spring or Easter in 2015.

Wow, I'm so used to typing "Fox" with anything related to Star Wars, I just typed Fox out of habit when I really meant Disney. I still predict the same thing will happen though.
