My wife have me this jukebox for x mas. after plugging it in i found the turn table was spinning as if a record was playing. after turning it off i tried turning the nuraled shaft of the motor to manually make the grabber rotate over to record carousel. when rotating the grabber arm starts to come up but only to stop one from turn table. any help would be great. do i need to take out the gripper assembly?

There are several possible causes of the problem. First, check the fuses.

On the selector assembly of your model, there should be small copper contacts that rotate. Using contact cleaner on them may solve the problem. Treat these contacts gently.

Another problem could be that the motor with the knurled knob has failed. Select a record and then push the knurled knob in and out and tap on the motor housing, to try to get the motor to run, or at least try to start. If it does, then you know what needs to be repaired.

If that didn't work, use a meter to see if the motor is getting voltage. If so, disassemble the motor and check the wiring to the field coils and to the brushes. Check the field coils for continuity. Examine the commutator, and polish it if necessary. Check the brush springs to be sure they're in place. Brushes may be worn excessively and need replacement.

Other problems could be worn bearings or a failed armature. With patience, you'll get it repaired.
