I just saw one of those "old whatevers never die, they just" bumper stickers and that reminded me:

Oh, we're doing puns.

Get slow on the uptake
Their reel end alarm quits ringing
Douse out
Work intermittently
Chain slips a sprocket
Look down from that big porthole in the sky

The audience could only be so lucky. Most locations they were replaced by "booth ushers".

Could add:

Become traveling and location technicians.
Become a member of management.

When I first heard the term "booth ushers" back in the 1980's my first thought was "Why the fuck do you need to have booth ushers? Are the projectors getting lost or sneaking into other auditoria?"

Back on topic..

"Miss their motor cues."

Lean out the booth window too long and get struck by lightning. (This could have happened to me)
