    Masters of the Universe (2026)15/

I really enjoyed this. It is not a cinematic masterpiece by any stretch but it is a fun popcorn movie. It doesn't have a complicated plot that leaves you confused if you miss a word of dialog like the Marvel movies. It doesn't take itself seriously and is more of a parody than anything else. But, the humor combined with the nostalgia (I watched the cartoon as a kid) made it entertaining. It was a fun way to spend 3 hours (including the trailers/ads). I saw it in IMAX... with LASER BEAMS at AMC Pembroke Lakes. Picture and sound were both very good. I poke fun at the naming but honestly, all "IMAX" screens should be laser at this point. It is a much higher quality image than the Xenon based lieMAX. In the film days, there wouldn't have been a 35mm IMAX format confusingly differentiated from 15/70 IMAX.

Anyway, back to the movie. I'd give it a 4 out of 5 stars taking into account what it is. If you want to just watch a fun, nostalgic action comedy then go see it.

    By the Power of Grayskull!

I guess compared to that thing they made back in 1987 and also called Master of The Universe, this one is an upgrade.

I personally enjoyed the nostalgia trip... the campiness of it all. But judging it by the number of people in the room though, I doubt this is going to make any money.

I'm still asking myself how you could blow $200m on a movie that has special effects that look worse as those of a movie filmed in the late 1990s. But maybe that's part of the charm and this thing does have the potential to turn into a cult classic.

Slight spoiler alert: Judging by the last of the two after-credit segments, they seriously expected they'd going to make a second one of these in the near future?

I have the same question about the budget vs. the resulting effects quality. I agree that he post credits (I think there were actually 3 mid/post) scenes indicated that they certainly expected a profitable franchise with sequels and spinoffs.
