The conclusion to the Santa Monica big cat flap was pure Laurel and Hardy / Keystone Kops. An official found the mountain lion, fired a tranquilizer dart at it, but missed, whereupon kitty promptly disappeared for another 2-3 hours, before eventually being located, curled up and asleep, in someone's front yard a couple of blocks from 14th and Montana.
Another cat story: a stray cat literally upstaged the stars of a ballet performance of (I'm guessing Prokofiev's, though this is unstated) Romeo and Juliet in Izmir, Turkey. Video here, but the site won't let me embed it.
It reminds me of one of my favorite early British films, Mary Jane's Mishap, in which a cat is clearly the star of the show; but many people see it without even noticing that the cat is there.
