CP2215 picture partly red after restart it is ok waht can that be?

    I have problem with a Christie CP2215.

Sometimes it has a partly red image. It can be the upper or the lower part of the image.

It happens either right after the start of the machine or when it is running a whole das and is getting höt.
    What can that be?
After a restart this normaly goes away.
    The projectionist are now afraid.
Three shows where canceled the last month.

With this projector we had an issue after installing with high temperatur on the ICP FPGA.
After putting in new fans it was running fine for 6 Years wihout a problem.
    Now we have this issue.
Does it has something to do with the ICP?

    Airfilter is new.

    Any Idea?

Is there a "digital" hard line in the part that's "red"? And is it completely red or does the image have a red tint?

Judging from the fact that the rest of the image looks normal, I don't think it's a problem with one of the "satellites". In order to have half of the screen turn red, the blue and green satellite need to fail simultaneously in about the same way. Not impossible, but unlikely. So, I suspect the ICP.

One of the first things you normally do in such situations is reseating the ICP back onto the backplane. Keep in mind that reseating the ICP board will break marriage and if there are potential issues with connectivity already, it could potentially worsen the situation.

I didn't see it but they say that half of the picture is red and with a straight hard border.

First reseat the ICP, and cleaning its edge connector with alcohol and a non abrasive wipe is a good idea. Use static safety procedure. Next reseat the LEQD connections. Deoxit on these connections is also a good idea.
There are hundreds of connections on the ICP and quite a few through the LEQD.
If the image still corrupts, the ICP may be failing. The FPGA should not overheat if the card cage fans are working and clean.
If it persists, I think you can swap around formatter cables on the LEQD and see if the fault stays the same or changes color. That narrows it down to a formatter/DMD problem or with the ICP or wiring before the LEQD.
I'm not certain of that swap, mostly I work on Barco where backplane cables can be swapped.

Tell them to keep calm and take pictures of the screen and projector TPC display with their cell phone next time. Takes only a few seconds but will help with an analysis.

You can first check the ICP and then play. If the problem occurs with only one of the colors (red, green, or blue), it might be an issue with your color chip rather than the ICP. If all the colors have problems, then it is likely an issue with the ICP.

Could it be this kind of malfunction?

You mentioned overheating on the ICP: has the projector been regularly serviced over the years? Are your filters clean? Is the projector in a temperature-controlled room and what is the ambient temperature?

I have one location having a similar problem minus the ICP FPGA over temp warnings. The only thing to "fix" it so far has been to use contact cleaner on both ICP and the IMB (Dolby) gold pads. Doing that has lead to the longest stretch of time without an issue. Before we were seeing the problem probably 3x/week and it required a reboot to fix every time.

This suggests to me that either there is insufficient airflow through the card cage, or that the backplane (Barco) / motherboard (NEC) / don't know what they call it (Christie) is suspect.

In my experience, the ICP temperature warning and color issues aren't really related.

                      Regarding ICP Temperature

What is the ambient temperature in the projection room? The air flowing into the DLP must be cool, right?

                      1. Replace the front filter. The airflow is likely poor because the filter is clogged.
                      - Try operating it without the front filter and check how low the ICP temperature drops.

                      2. Clean the cooling fan mesh on the bottom of the DLP lower card cage.
                      - Remove any clutter from the bottom of the DLP to ensure smooth airflow.

When I first install any DLP, I make sure to raise all the legs by 2-3 cm to secure floor space.

                      2. The card cage comes with 2 fans by default, but you can add up to 4.
                      - Check if the card cage fans are installed facing the wrong direction.
The airflow direction is marked on the side of the fan. It needs to be facing downwards.

                      Regarding Color Issues

                      1. Reseat and Clean the gold fingers on the ICP and LEQD.

                      2. Reseat each RGB Ribbon cable connected to the LEQD.

                      3. Reseat each RGB Ribbon cable connected to the Light Engine.

Sorry, I confused it with the CP2220.

The 15 model has a horizontal card cage, so there is no mesh grille on the bottom of the DLP.
And ignore what I said about being able to add a card cage fan.

But definitely try removing the front filter.

I don't think it's an airflow problem, since that projector does not have over-temp warnings. I have read a couple posts on this forum that say that the connectors they use in the backplane are not the best. Especially with the ICP card and it's multiple pci-e connectors, it's easy to see how a tiny bit of corrosion on a single pin could cause data corruption and put one color channel in a bad state. It's been several weeks since I cleaned the contacts on that projector, and we are now experiencing the longest streak-without-issue.
