My problem with trying to have a Best Theatre Award would be that there are going to be some that will always clean up. To pull a name out of a hat, say, Radio City Music Hall is ALWAYS going to have top-notch presentation. They will always be in top contention for the award.

Some Joe Schmoe, working for minimum wage at some dumpy AMC booth is NEVER going to be in the running and he knows it. He'll just develop a sense of apathy toward the award.

What you'll end up with is nothing more than a competition between elites where one or two people will trade the award back and forth every year. After a while, it won't mean anything even to THEM.

IF such an award was enacted, there'd need to be a way to make it fair for everybody... say categories. (Best Multiplex... Most improved, etc. etc. etc.)

If the award was given to an entire circuit, not just a single theatre, it could be fair. Each theatre would be judged and the average of all locations would be taken to determine which circuit would get an award. This way, a large circuit has a chance of competing with Radio City. The difference between the two is that Radio City is a single location. So if a circuit wants to win an award, it better make sure all of its locations are top-notch.
