I had no problem figuring out that the Star Wars trailers were labeled Sand Dogs because it said so on the FoxExhibitor website I use to check for new materials to order for our theatre anyway. Plus, when we got our banner and one sheets, they were labeled with a number. I think this is merely to prevent shipping theft and has nothing to do with anti-piracy. They wanted to make sure the theatres had the material to show, since it was advertised. I think that theatres owe it to their customers to check since, as someone pointed out, most customers wanted to see it. What I don't get, is why they didn't continue to label them in that fashion from then on, since they sent me a package two weeks later with the actual title. Maybe they don't trust the Technicolor employees for some reason. I'm not saying I agree with it at all, I'm just giving what I think may be a studio's perspective. I think theft more than piracy is the reason behind the name change. In the past, they wanted to account for every single Star Wars trailer that went out. I can deal with a title change a little better.
