Please see below the text of the instructions for the 6AD / XD10 software update included on the Evan Almighty discs. The graphics didn't paste into this posting; if you'd like a PDF of the document please shoot me an email.
<EDIT - the pdf of this can be found here.>
IMPORTANT INFORMATION CONCERNING THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE INCLUDED ON THESE DTS SOUND TRACK DISCS
New software has been released for the DTS-6AD and DTS-XD10. To allow you to immediately install the new software, the upgrade programs are included on these sound track discs. Not all sound track discs will have them. The upgrades are very easy to install and can be accomplished by non-technical personnel. Please load these sound track discs while the DTS unit is idle (not playing) as the unit will automatically reboot after the software upgrade. Note: The DTS-6, DTS-6D, DTS-ES, DTS-CSS, and DTS-XD10P are not affected and do not need the upgrade.
DTS XD10 Cinema Media Player First verify its software version by pressing ENTER – Info – Version.
If your XD10 software version is lower than 2.00.40, then the upgrade program will not install. In this case, you will need to contact your DTS dealer* and order the free V2.00.43 upgrade package, DTS part number 9005F59000B. Once the XD10 is upgraded, its version screen will appear as shown above (press ENTER – Info – Version):
*To find a DTS dealer near you, go to http://www.dts.com/cinema. From “Find DTS” in the right column, click on DTS Cinema Hardware Dealers
DTS-6AD Cinema Processor The upgrade program will not automatically load into the DTS-6AD so please follow the easy steps below to manually load the software:
DTS-6AD Upgrade Procedure 1. Verify software version 2.08 is not already installed. (Press MENU, F7) If the software version is 2.08 or greater, STOP, no further action is required. If the software version is not 2.08 or greater, please proceed to step 2. 2. Remove all discs from the DTS-6AD disc drives. 3. Insert the sound track discs, A-disc into the “A” drive and B-disc into the “B” drive. 4. Use the power switch on the front panel of the DTS-6AD to power down the unit. 5. Locate the [FMT] key. 6. Press and hold the [FMT] key and turn on the DTS-6AD with the front panel switch. Continue to hold the [FMT] key for about 5 seconds while the system performs the self-test. 7. Release the [FMT] key when the display reads: 8. Press [OK] key to start the automatic upgrade process. The process takes about 3 minutes. 9. The following will be displayed when the upgrade process has successfully completed: 10. Press the [OK] key to reset the system 11. Check the DTS-6AD software version to verify that the software update has been completed: a. Press the [MENU] key. b. Press the [F7] key (VERSION). c. The following information should be displayed:
12. Contact DTS Technical Support if the CPU Version does not upgrade to 2.08. 13. The unit is now ready to operate as normal.
Troubleshooting 1. The following error may appear while performing the upgrade:
Solution: The DTS-6AD did not detect the disc in one of its drives. Check that the disc is in the drive. Try moving the discs to other drives if the problem persists.

quote: Brad Allen Three screens here, and maybe once a year we fail to have the DTS disc's arrive with the print. It's been a non-issue the 3 years we've been using DTS.
Just out of interest, are you a first-run house? We never run new prints; well ok, the print of the short 'A Colour Box' which we ran last week was new, but normally everything we run has been to several other venues before we get it, and we seldom see DTS discs.
As I said, we don't have any digital sound system, at least not for film, the digital cinema system has digital sound obviously. As far as I am aware there are no plans to install any digital system, but if they were to do so then I think it would be unlikely that it would be DTS, not because there's anything wrong with the system as such, but because few films would be able to use it.
It's not DTSs fault, and if I were them I would not be very happy about the situation.
