That was a great movie, with stunning photography, and a really well told story without any hocus pocus or kitschy special effects (well, OK, there was one, with the deer). I would really like to see that again on the big screen.

From the ancient archives of REC.ARTS.MOVIES.TECH in 1995!:

It (The Wild Bunch)also plays in 70mm at the Aero Theate in Santa Monica, CA at 7:30pm, part of a 5 film 70mm series that includes Pink Floyd-the Wall (a "slightly" faded print, according to their notes) as well as LOA, 2001, and Baraka. Other 70mm showing in L.A. is South Pacific at the LACMA Bing Theatre (Sound of Music was listed as a 70mm showing here, but the 70mm notation has dropped off the prgram list in recent weeks).

Anyone going to this year's Todd-AO Festival in Germany?.

I would like too, but not sure if I could see "Pink" 70mm film
in German [Eek!]

Funny thing about dubbed versions is the fact, that one usually knows the story and dialouge in the original versions. So, while it is shown in German, the English version is "playing" in your mind. It does not really matter if "Ben Hur" is in German - if you have seen it a dozen times in English, it is easy to follow.

It's like seeing the director's cut of "Blade Runner" without the narration. The narration is still there in your memory.

Besides, I was impressed by the German voice of Rex Harrison a few years ago. I did sound like Rex, only he was speaking German in "MFL".

THE WILD BUNCH played at the Cinerama Theatre in Honolulu during a 70mm revival with BLADE RUNNER, and two others about a year before Pacific closed that magnificent venue.

I need to use or lose some vacation time. Hmmm, flying on an ID90 pass from here to Frankfurt (which I assume is the closest airport with airline service)... Will HAVE to look into this.

The nearest Local Airport to Karlsrule is Karlsure-Baden and is about 30k from Karlsure City, there are no Train connections from the Airport.

I may look into this as well, I see that Ryan Air flys from London Stanstead to this Airport.

If I were you, I would book a flight to Karlsruhe instead. I don't know what or where Karlsrule is. But the Schauburg is in Karlsruhe.

Closest international airport is Frankfurt AM. Nice ICE trains runs from the airport, via Mannheim to Karlsruhe. No rush, very smooth ride.

That website Thomas posted is, in fact, the German Railroad system German language site. Here is their English language site, which might make it a bit easier ...
