Just throw the reader away and buy a new one. The theater doesn't own any metric allens, so they would have to buy some for me to sacrifice. The problem does not follow the LEDs. When watching the flywheel spin, you can see a slight wobble. Is it possible to order just a replacement shaft? If so, what is the PN?  |  IP: Logged Sam D. Chavez Film God Posts: 2153 From: Martinez, CA USA Registered: Aug 2003 posted 08-04-2008 09:19 AM                       Joe, The way to remove the flywheel which is job one is to use the holes used to attach the reel arms to gain access to the allen on the inside of the flywheel. I can't speak to the bent shaft but it is a tight fit and may not come out. I would call Tom but I am out of town. Old theatres close and people buy the used equipment and then sell it on to another user who then sells it again and again etc. etc... What I was getting at was how it came to be at the theatre it is now in. Say Steve at Cardinal Sound originally bought it from BACP and then sold it to XYZ Theatre. Then XYZ theatre closed and MiT bought all the used equipment and sold this particular piece to the theatre Joe is at. This would mean that MiT is who we need to go through, not Cardinal Sound or BACP. Anyway, we will get this settled when Joe is back in town. That theater closed and it is now at Regency in Colorado. Whether they purchased it new, used or inherited it is unknown to me. But when you can finally get together with them when both you and they get back in at least we'll have a really good idea who put the flywheels on backwards . Actually Madstone very definately did open that location up at Trolley Square in SLC with that gear. They left because Megaplex just a couple miles away got all the good mainstream titles and The local Art House jokers had more scresns and so tied up all the artsie stuff. After Madstone left it sat closed for quite some time with the gear in place. Regency reopened it and ran it till we ripped all that stuff out at their request. Actually the Mall owners wanted the space for retail. The firmware that was in the 650's was pretty early stuff. The firmware thats in them now has plenty of bugs to drive Joe crazy! Were BACP readers in use back then? When were BACP readers introduced to the market? I always had trouble getting Madstone to spend any money in the booth (but they sure spent it on the lobby), and when they did they sent me 2 new and 4 severely used Strong switched platters! STRONG! Not even SCDC! I will be sure to quit on December 17.  |  IP: Logged
