Not to worry, we've got a neighborhood theatre out here in Brooklyn that used to be a really nice sized single screen, about 700 seats in it's day -- nicely appointed....not a movie "palace" by any means, but as was done in those days, it had its own individual style, interesting and comfortable.
Then they turned it into a 3 plex, after a few months, it was a 5 plex, then shortly after that it was tortured into a 7-plex. So whereas you find theatres that are just hallways, this place has rooms that are no more than closets, or maybe they are using the restrooms as theatres also -- you know, hanging LCD screens on the stall doors. They can call them "digital" to boot!
And talking about digital, this one particular place decided that muliplexing that poor single screen like so many horny rabbits wasn't enough to survive, so they pulled out all the film projectors and replaced them with digital. How a digital projector can fix all the horrible twisted boxes in this place that they call "theatres" is the real question.
