Sad because I love the scope ratio for most films and the only time I have seen DCinema do it really nice was at an AMC (formerly a Kerasotes) that had a curved screen running Rango. It was a phenomenal image. Too bad I was anticipating 15/70! Oh, and no masking really annoys me on those blow-ups. Whilst we professionals know everything and every standard of THX, we can not say that of the up and coming professionals or new theatre designers. Fortunately the THX standard is available for those just coming into the Cinema industry. Otherwise...who knows, there may be reversion to the good old days of painted concrete walls and any other number of acoustical tragedies. I do agree, unfortunately, that the public might have seen this as a fad...and I'm sure 90% of them had no idea what the Tomlinson Holman Experiment was about... its origins, its applications, or its benefits. Possibly the audience would get deathly bored or confused if they were instructed on the standard.
