Sorry but you're mistaken, the Winamp plugin existed and worked. It stopped working - as Brad said - when DTS changed the files format for anti-piracy reasons.
The .dll was called "in_APTX.dll" I found it on my archive!

Yes, any 35mm print with a Dolby Digital track is supposed to have a stereo optical track encoded with Dolby SR noise reduction. But what's there to stop the folks in post production from deviating from that rule?

Didn't The Lion King have some Dolby Digital prints with the analog track encoded with Dolby A-type noise reduction rather than SR?

Bobby: it is specified in the Dolby contract. "A" is Ok, but then no digital dolby. Louis

Does anyone know definitively what the analog track of "Lion King" was?

I'm curious as to why Disney would bend over backwards to use A-Type if they were entitled to have SR noise reduction. And why only for one title? And why would they create two print masters, and a dual-inventory situation to accommodate this?

That doesn't seem to make any sense to me.

Lion King was SR. We had to install SR cards at the same time as we installed the da10/cat 699. Louis

By "triple" do you mean that there were SR-only prints, with no SRD? Or were the SR/SRD combined as usual? (In which case, wouldn't that be triple format, but dual-inventory?)

Anybody have the explanation for the triple inventory?

I remember that WinAmp plugin. I remember putzing around with it when I was in a video production class in college, and we grabbed some cool sound effects from Kill Bill to use. I'm sure I still have it in my archives too, the driver and old version of winamp that is.

I always had hoped we'd get a version of that original short DTS snipe on video...I've never seen it released on any home format.

Isn't it on the Jurassic Park DTS discs? At least I thought it was.

No. The more sedate "sonic landscape" DTS trailer (the one with the piano) is on the Jurassic Park DTS DVDs. I don't have the Jurassic Park trilogy Blu-ray yet, but I'm guessing there's no DTS trailers on those movie discs since Universal hasn't, AFAIK, put any DTS trailers on any of their other Blu-ray releases.

I meant on the DTS Cinema discs for JP....I thought the shorter trailer he was talking about was on there...at least the audio.

From an advertising standpoint the longer "digital experience" stand-alone trailer is better for making the DTS brand name far more prominent.

The thing I liked about the shorter trailer: the sound of the disc exploding was better. The wind effect whistled off into silence. That worked extremely well in dramatic tone leading into those loud drum thumps in the Jurassic Park opening titles. I wish they had included that in the DVD and Blu-ray releases.
