Still 35mm. Had Technicolor 3D on one or two screens. Raising money to convert to digital. No timeline given though they acknowledge time is running out for film. "Sadly we are being forced to convert to Digital Projection otherwise by 2014 we will be out of business. We could not raise enough money to qualify for a special rebate program but we were lucky enough to find a company that will install us for $180,000 instead of the original quote we received which was $300,000. We want to continue to stay in business and offer affordable movies to the masses. Without small Independent Theaters like this one, there would be nothing keeping the costs down and the big chains will be able to completely control movie prices. Could you imagine possibly paying over $20 to see a film?? That would be insane! It's us "little guys" that help keep the "big guys" somewhat grounded." Rolette Theater, Rolette, ND - single screen 35, mm. They converted to Digital in April. My error for not confirming! What is sad though is he told me he literally threw out his Century Projectors/related equipment in the dump. He is like lots of other small theater owners that would have liked to stick with Film but have to go with the Flow if you want to continue in the Biz... I wonder how many other Theater owners have basically just thrown out their old projection Equipment. The location has been on its last legs for years, and is essentially a first run discount house now. All screens with cinemeccanica vic 5s, consoles and platters. I made the trip as i know they are taking out half the 35mm machines in a week or so, then the remainder a few weeks later.  |  IP: Logged
