Author Topic: Why are there very few movies mixed in SDDS currently? Marco Giustini Film God Posts: 2713 From: Reading, UK Registered: Nov 2007 posted 10-03-2014 02:54 PM                     Steve, they must have fixed the PN on the 3000 (or with a SW update), I checked my 3000 and the PN is perfectly flat. Was the the headroom of the unit a big issue? As any professional sound device, the unit seems to clip the signal if positive EQ/channel gain is applied and a 0dBFS signal is recorded. Actually on my unit a 0dBFS signal (internally generated I must admit) clips with channel level higher than -2dB if memory serves. I've seen SDDS units which looked like Christmas trees when a loud scene was played back. I was told that Dolby units were designed "idiotproof" and the USL have a selectable headroom (default is 26dB if I remember correctly which allows for the signal headroom and 6dB of EQ. There is also a 32dB which allows for +12dB EQ, 31 bands and shelves.)  |  IP: Logged
