Bump, bump.
Continued from the, "Are there any Imax projectors out there?" topic .....
Mark commented; ".... Its the Strong platter that was the weak link ..."
I would disagree, er, strongly. At first, they used a CFS Rentec design which was very poor, but there were no problems after they switched to the special venue Strong. I felt it was a well made equipment with some clever features. I'd be interested in knowing how a platter could cause sequential perf damage.
There were several people involved in the design and maintaince of the Maverick. Some were very commited, and even worked for free after the company had problems, just to support it. OTOH, I'm not surprised to hear someone tring to 'distance' themselves by blaming someone else.
"I have wondered what became of the two mavericks that did get installed as it would be worth preserving one."
My grandmother had a house on Thunder Bay .. I think they should be used for boat anchors there. It's not too deep, and the IMAX people are somewhat close. They could get a glass-bottom boat, tie up, drink and laugh.
"EXIT" is right..... bye, bye!
