The first NYC neighborhood theatre release (following the Roxie's exclusive engagement) began on December 25,1953. Don't know about the outer burroughs, but all the Manhattan nabes opening it were only closed for one day (December 24) prior to the opening. The theatres were: Academy of Music, RKO 58th Street, RKO 86th Street, RKO 23rd Street, Riverside, Nemo, and Coliseum.
